To power or not to power

I have noticed threads indicating that if power is lost you can go 24-48 hours of dark when in flower without harming the grow then pick the cycle back up.
Any truth to this?
The reason I ask is I may have to go out of town for 5 days and I don’t think there will be enough water. If it turns to that I could shut the light off for the last 24 to 48 hours to slow water intake.
Any thoughts?

I'm honestly not sure about the photo cycle, but you can add auto-siphoning makeup volume to your system using 5 gallon buckets and some tubing. Each bucket and the res you're using is connected by a series of water-filled upside-down U shaped tubes, where both ends of the tube reach down to the bottom the containers they're connecting, and each bucket is set up so that the top of the bucket is at or slightly above the elevation of the top of your res. Once connected and filled to the same elevation as the res water line, the water-filled tubes will act as automatic siphons, so a drop in the water level in the res will drive flow from the buckets into the res until all of the bucket amd res water levels are at the same elevation. While the res water level will continue to drop, it will drop much more slowly, like you have a bigger res volume, so you could add some extra time to your system before it dries out.
I can't find a good diagram online, so I'll see if I can draw it out later today.
