I stopped using Demonoid  when I started getting virus' from it
tpb was the most reliable site I had come across
looks like I'll be looking for something new again

I start with torrentz.eu which searches multiple torrent sites, find a torrent I like and if its available from 1337x.to I start there if not i'd use pirate bay, third chose was KAT.

Does using an invite only site reduce risk of being caught or is it just less likely to go down? My torrent client uses a proxy, but I don't always remember to use one when downloading files. I don't have a VPN set up

IME you are way less likely to get a love letter from your ISP when using private sites. I have yet to get one in the 8+ years of downloading torrents.

I would like to also point out that demonoid is not a 'private' site like most people think. While it's invite only they do use public trackers majority of the time.

This is what I've been using since it shut down, but it just seems sketchy to me. I've run 10 things or so through AVG after downloading from there and none of it got flagged, so I guess it's OK.
