 Smallest Amount of Bud Needed to Eat for Moderate Stoneness

I want to make a small, "one-way ticket" dose that won't be too powerful or overwhelming (bad experiences in past with O.D.ing) but strong enough that its enjoyable. I would make a larger batch and split it down if I had a butt-load of extra money to spend.
So, when it comes to "One Seaters" like the FireCracka, how much is the minimum of lets say, average mid-grade "in-the-middle" bud for a "I'm on brownies for real this time" feeling?
And how about for making Cannabutter for one dose: how much is a practical amount of average bud to use?

Make whatever you want with that and split it into 5 or 10 servings, depending on your tolerance

I did the 1/4 oz to one stick ratio recently, simmered the mix for 3 hours and made a tray of 10 brownies that were perfect doses.
One was enough, two put you on your ass.
edit: and they freeze well.

What kind of bud did you use
I have a half ounce of really really dank 100% sativa bud that has a really strong beasters smell so I think I might make 10 brownies with 1/4 and see if I can sell them
or should I just get some $100 / oz mid grade stuff ?
I have heard that it dosent make to much of a difference in edibles since much of what gets you stoned is the other cannibinoids besides THC but im not sure how true that is

I don't remember where I saw it, but somewhere said to use about a joints worth of weed in a cookie recipe. That seems to be the right amount.
