The coating is a small dose of anti fungal, and food. The color is by strain. The cool thing is you can get one of the mix packs and know which seed is which strain.

that would be cool
personally I wouldn't want 1 seed of each strain, I like going through a pack of seeds of one strain.
it's nice for poor collectors but not if you want to save seeds.

Actually, it is nice for people who want to try several of their strains at once, to get a better idea of what to expect when they find one they want to get a full pack of. Also, they have ten packs with two seeds of each strain, as well as different mixes that have, for example, three of one and two of another. The amount of strains someone can sample now without having to pay ridiculous amounts for millions of packs of strains that they won't want to run again is really cool... it has nothing to do with being poor.

I would only get the feminized version of that. Once you get one of each to come up assuming all the seeds germinate, you could just clone them at a later date if you wanted to keep more of a certain one, knowing they are already female with the feminized.

Thats pretty cool. I like to see innovation in the seed business. Whats everyones opinion on the guys from greenhouse? I watched a couple of their videos and they came off as a very arrogant bunch... Anyone know them personally?

feminized seeds are a waste of money. You have a higher percentage of having a hermie then anything else. To top it off you're paying out the ass for that pleasure.
I've been waiting for them to release their colored seeds, it''ll be nice not having to keep 8000 different labeled vacutainers for my seed collection now

Well lets hold on a sec. Now 2 years ago I'd have hung tight with ya on this one but now a days they pretty much have the feminizing thing under control. Depends on the method. Hell I myself hit in the high 98% and above with the fem's I do. STS is the way to go.
First step find the mothers you want to use. Take cuttings off of them then stress test them with light, water, nutes, and several other methods. Now the ones that don't show a female flower under stress are the ones you want to use. Now about a week before you set the plants into flowering spray the sts on the branch or plants you want to use. Then when you put the plants into flowering spray them again. yadda yadda yadda sorry I get to into it.
Then there is the Soma way. I have argued with him so many times it's not funny. He believes in letting the plants go way past the maturity or if its a 8 week strain he lets it go 10 to 12 and when you do this most strains will start to pop male flowers. The prob with this method you'll be lucky to hit 70% females with the rest not just being the type of hermie that pops the male flower once and a while but hard core hermies. He says it's his way of keeping things organic. He has great genetics some of the best but his female seeds are the result of not wanting to do the work that it takes to do it right.

I got 8 seeds in a random bag I purchased of a bud that was clearly hermied (Why the fuck he ever decided it was okay to sell is beyond me) but regardless, all 8 seeds were female with very strong genetics. NO problems whatsoever
