Being a poor student, I don't want to spend money on ordering seeds online for my first grow; I predict my chance of failure is great.
I am going to build a grow box with CFL's and two chambers(1)bonsai mom/clone and 2) flower)out of an unused dresser.
I was wondering if its worth a try to germinate seeds from mids and if they will turn out as the dank i would like them to be =) What are the chances of my seeds from shitty weed just growing shitty weed even with proper attention and supplies?

Yes, the bud you grow out should be dank if you do everything right. Even schwag will turn out alright if you do everything right. Better get a lot of CFL's though.

If you are going to use CFL's might as well use good ones

Dont waste the cash on ones that are 2-3 bucks cheaper. Get the highest rated wattage ones you can find. I suggest getting a standard to mogul base converter and grabbing some 6,500k daylight 200W CFL grow bulbs. I have two of them on some "brick" seed little plants I am growing.
I bet a buddy I could grow a decent, good looking and smoking plant from cfl and bad seed. They are nowhere as lovely as the ones growing under the 1k hps lamps, but for a foot locker with 2 light bulbs, bag seed and noting more than a flower pot with coir in it you can beat it.
Also buy the bulbs at a menards, or hardware store if ya can. All the exact same bulbs I have found online are 10+ bucks more

damn at around 30 bucks bulb i might as well get a 250 hps with a pyrex cooltube and use some cfls for my bonsai moms in the other room

if you are going for 250 you mine as well get a 400. You will be happier in the long run. And all the CFL's I bought have been like 5-7 a piece.

I'm not really planning that far ahead i'll only be able to use this box for about a year and a half so i'm hoping only going to complete a few harvests haha and on the site that guy linked the bulbs were around 30 but if they are 5-7(seems more realistic) then i think i might go that route. I'm not really going for massive yields i just want to sustain my habit and maybe a friends every once in a while =)

The ones he linked you too are better bulbs though. Just go to walmart and look for the most lumen output you can find. And buy a shit load of them. 4 might even be to little. you want them all around the plant because CFL's dont penatrate the canopy very well. Otherwise you will get loose buds. And no one likes loose buds.

Just to keep this real, I've seen bagseed grows that turn out to be phenomenal green, and I've seen ones that end up being just okay middies.
The key is this: your ganj is only as good as its genetics allow it to be AND as good as the effort you put into it.
If you start with schwag, and have a weak soil/growspace, your gonna get schwag back out.
Plan the grow carefully before beginning, run it by the community here, and THEN start, and your chances will be so much better.
There are AT LEAST 2 threads on here where growers couldn't even identify the difference between male and female flowers.
This community could have saved them a lot of trouble.
