My first grow, a result!
    #285648 - 09/24/09 04:56 AM (14 years, 6 months ago)

so yeah the season is coming to an end (we've been having rains lately) but after my first Male that finished flowering sprouted another baby and from that baby came a wonderfull female, i'm sure it will suffice for my smoking habit at least a year!
so at least a result for my first grow, not a single male hehe!!!

so pics no?
i don't have much just these three recent ones and a question... how much longer do you think she will take? remember she only sprouted when the male finished flowering!

Since you're growing outdoors, the harvest time depends on where you live and what strain that is.

Watch it closely. Look at the colors of the trichomes. It looks like it's relatively close to midway through flowering in those pictures.

It definitely needs a couple more weeks, but it looks like a nice, hefty plant!

yup i'm keeping a very close eye but it seems to still be putting out flowers, it's as if she doesn't want to mature

i have all the time in the world but i'm afraid it will start raining too much for her soon...

Looks pretty good, definitely starting to ripen. I'd wait for more white pistils to turn reddish. You want around 80-90% of those hairs to be reddish, but a perfect harvest time might be different for you depending on the ratio of cannabinoids and type of high you like.

You should try to get an inexpensive ($13 in the U.S) 60x-100x magnification scope to get a good look at the trichomes.

this seed came from some home grown flowers that were given to us as a present about a year ago, we only had three or four of them and only two came, the male and this female...

i assume it came from some good genetics because here in spain everyone grows and you can buy seeds in special stores so probably if it was home grown then it would be good...

either way i'm happy

Are those caterpillars and their associated damage? Manual removal is probably your best/only option at this point.

Nice looking buds brah!

Hate the caterpillars! Pretty much have to hand pick them at th5s stage.

Out here we have tiny caterpillars that make this little web cocoon thingy around and in the buds. Have had to pick more then one out the middle a big bud. Pesticides early on before the flowering began would have helped.

As far as when is it ready..... Most of us will wait for certain indicators like when the plants pistils are about 1/2 to 3/4 turning red. Then from there start monitoring the trichs. Get a magnafying glass or a cheap radioshack microscope. Check to see the cloudiness on the crystals/trichomes.

Neem oil works wonders as a preventive measure (in place of chemical pesticides)...that way you don't have to deal with an infestation.
