The funny thing is, I was with 1/5 on that tour in Ramadi.
If you think that's fucked up, you should see what those Iraqi fucks
did to 3 soldiers. they found pieces of them all over ramadi and the Iraqis' even defecated on 1 of the torso's. i have no sympathy for them.

most of the time they come from towns with no future, and are given deals that will change their life. would you turn this down? i have friends who served who get their school payed for. otherwise they'd be working at mcdonalds. i have a great friend who did the college thing but joined ROTC and signed his life away. he regrets it but can't do a damn thing about it.
most of the time they are too young to even know what they are doing. they recruit right out of highschool. i don't even consider that an adult yet. they don't know what they want. they don't know what they feel. they don't know themselves yet. i know i changed plenty in college. i learned to think for myself instead of think like my parents/how i was raised.
besides when people favor the war they are loved and praised, but when people change their minds they are the first to be blamed. fuck that.
so get off your spoiled pedestal and shut the fuck up.
do something useful like telling kids about the cons of signing their life away at such a young age when they feel pressure from parents/etc...
or do nothing at all like me, but i'm starting to hate all your liberal bullshit here.

i agree to a certain extent. because i know there is a majority of soldiers that want to get out of there. but there are the others (like in the vid) that look like they're just there to kill some people, or are just completely abusing the nature of them being there in the first place

i'm not saying that's right at all, but not all soldiers are like that.
and the ones that are, maybe they had some underlying mental issue and couldn't deal with the horrors they felt at war. would you know? no. are you a psychologist? no. have you been there? no. have i been there? no. but i try to remain open minded and put myself in their perspective.
how would you like living everyday being shot at, buddies getting killed, eating shitty food, a whole country hates you, suicide bombers, etc... it's not like you can just say "take me home". you face serious repercussions.
i don't think any of us know except those have been there what it is really like. i bet it is a hell knowing you could die any day and many of your close friends have died along side of you.

but then they will be facing charges against them from the army, they will lose their money, not be able to support their families, lose their scholarships, end up in jail, be outcasted by their close peers and friends, etc...

anyways i challenge any of you, who are thinking soldiers are scum, to actually go meet some, talk to some. more than just one. yes you will get the occasional douche bag just like you get all types of people everywhere. weird/crazy/insane/normal/geek/shy/etc...
meet some 'real' veterans. see what their life is like with no fucking legs or arms. have some fucking sympathy. most have to live with the mental anguish of knowing they killed another person. maybe they look back and say, yeah that was a bad choice at the time, and maybe you agree. but you don't know what lead them to that choice and if they knew what they knew now, maybe they wouldn't have done it.

i'm tired of it myself. it just really pissed me off people were ganging up on Yasi.
Yasi was over there getting bombed while we were getting high and chatting online how fucked up we got last weekend and how hard our lives are.
i don't agree with him at all, but i can at least understand and try to make sense on his views and why he feels a certain way. don't get me wrong i think it's completely wrong, but you don't know him, you don't know his story, you don't know his life. stop passing judgment.

I completely lost my head when i read some of these comments.
No offense to anybody, But this liberal dreamworld that so many
seem to live in today is all BS. Those Marines were doing EXACTLY
what they were taught to do. And Anyone here who thinks they just
picked those people out of a crowd and started beating them, it's
time for a reality check. Iraqis are never detained without a just
cause. Those people were either caught doing something or were
planning an attack on Americans. Everyone who feels pity for them
should really step back and look at the whole picture, not just a
2 minute video clip. When is the last time anyone here has been in
Iraq? When was the last time any of you even talked with an Iraqi?
These are the same people that execute raped women, just because
they were raped. The same that burned America's flag before we even
went into their country. The same people that tied the bodies of
American soldiers to the back of their cars and dragged them through
their city streets. But people here think a mild beating is
outrageous. It's really sad to think that people would rather protect
someone they'll never meet rather than a fellow citizen.

I used to be a soldier. I hated it. Even though I never went to Iraq, my unit is going to soon. My job would've kept me on the bases most of the time, but I became an unofficial conscientious objector while in. I even wrote most of the application. I refuse to support the killing of civilians. Due to that and some other problems, I went AWOL for 2 months. After that, I turned myself in and got a summarized court marshal. I was given a month of hard labor because the application was known and I have mental health documentation. A total of 5 months of being treated like shit by almost every NCO and then I they handed me my discharge papers. Got the second highest discharge.
Was it worth it? Totally.
