Colorado Hammer
    #851268 - 10/23/21 06:08 PM (2 years, 5 months ago)

Wanted to wait til completion but i realize thatll be a long while.
In seedling stage now. Idk whats going on with middle girl there, maybe mites, maybe water droplet burn, something just shrunk the stem on it.
Some of these are older than others, been starting them in waves cautious about how hot my house soil is

If these dont run well for whatever reason, next run of these beans trying just coir and seed starter mix in smaller cups

The middle one wilted off, so -1
The oldest ones have some slight leaf twist showing already, I bet they'll grow through it(can kinda see it first pic top right)
Just been giving them plain water mists into the soil under the leaves
Trying not to let the cups get heavy or light, just maintaining that happy moist middle til they really start drinking it in

Thought i saw some mites or something on my soil, probably nothing but theres a sprayer with dish soap and sulphur powder in there at all times . Also kelp gets sprayed on different plants same area, hoping neither of these things hurt the babiez

Ahh another one shared the same fate as the middle, it just started drooping then wilted in just a day
Weird shit, spryed a little more sulphur/soap around just in case mites

Seedling stage taking forever, im thinking the pinch of house soil in the cups was too much, something!

They seem to be running slow for whatever reason. Lightly misting Bloom Khaos (kelp) in the tent occasionally to hopefully speed them up. Trying to hold off on watering. Room needs more CO2 !

hmm I was thinking about uploading another pic, but they aren't very much bigger than from 2 weeks ago! They've gotten a little taller, the bottom leaves have gotten a little more yellowy, they have not formed root cirrhosis yet. Been trying to keep the waterings light, just a little bit, let them get light, repeat.
Moved one out of solo up to 1.5gal container with mostly coir but then some of my infamous house soil, it isn't dead yet but it isn't tripling in size yet either so for now leaving the rest in solos. Just going to clip off the old wilty leaves at the bottom when that happens. Just started bending them down a little

Have you ever tried growing in just coco, with synthetic nutrients plus organic additives?  I've been playing around with a few clones in pure coco on Jacks 321, in 3 months they went from being 6 inches tall to over 7 feet, in 1 gallon pots!  I had to clone them and chop them down because they were growing past the lights in veg.

I think coco is better suited for synthetics.  It's better to use peat moss for organic mixes, due in part to it's higher cation exchange capacity.  I've seen more people with problems trying to grow organically in coco than I have seen successful organic coco growers.

Honestly I think at this point you're going to be chasing your tail playing the guessing game until you either do a test on your soil mix, or start with a new mix entirely.

That endless guessing game is why I'm currently growing DTW coco with synthetic nutrients.

i just realized there actually  is another new set of leaves on all the plants, idk why for a sec there thought they hadnt moved any lol. Still going to wait just a little bit before potting the rest of them up
was talking about pasteurizing the soil with boiling water maybe, but i need some materials to do that without making a mess, like data suggested a pillow case or something to sieve it

Yeah when I pasteurized straw I did it in a pillowcase in my pressure cooker, but I've never messed around with pasteurizing soil.

I'd bet your house soil is the problem as well.  Some people put a lot of effort into constructing soil mixes, so I'd recommend either buying a quality bagged soil or making your own based on a tried and true recipe.  Experimental mixes are fun to make, but I prefer to reserve those for outdoor test grows so I'm not wasting any electricity on potential failures.

There's also the possibility that feeding bottled organics has led to a buildup of certain nutrients, causing a nutrient toxicity in the plants.  Excess of one nutrient can cause decreased availability of others.  This is where a soil test comes in handy.

The house soil is just reused bag soil from previous harvested plants, which was started all from same bag brands.
I'm not anti soil testing, just the best I can afford to do is a slurry test and I don't think that'll give anyone any definitive info. Last time I did one ppms and ph looked normal, been in the same trials since then of early veggies + soil + water.
Picked another cluster of coprinids out of the house soil container last night, really thinking it's fungal. Just on a whim sprayed soap/sulphur over the top layer of the container, idk figured a shoebox would hate that right.

Data mentioned that sulfur will affect the pH, IIRC someone on another forum was mixing micronized sulfur into their soil to counteract the alkalinity of their water source. Sulfur plus water and oxygen = sulfuric acid.

I'm thinking a trichoderma inoculant could be useful if it is a fungal pathogen.

That doesnt sound too bad though, using coir and in early veg you want a ph around  6 anyway right?
i suppose using higher ph water wouldn't help though later on after flip in that case though... no?
i grow cubensis very close to my plants, i have zero faith in intentionally cultivating trich haha,  unless im super mistaken about how itll spread

When running synthetics in coco, I pH to around 5.6-6.2.  With an organic soilless mixture like yours, you'd want to be in the 6.2-6.8 range from what I've read.

I never had much luck growing shrooms in the same room as my grow, probably too many spores.

Well the first one transferred out of solo cup pictured in the 1.5 gal is still alive.. it seems happy I suppose, it's not pushing out new nodes yet, it's doing plant stuff though. I'm worried about the solos, the lower leaves keep wilting off like how the cotes are supposed to do... I forgot if that's normal or not something tells me no. They still don't have any root cirrhosis just barely reaching the bottom of the cups
