How thoroughly do you smoke a bowl?

So I started smoking about 7 years ago, and smoked a lot with a chick who was always hurtin' for money and bud. She would relight and pull a bowl until she could get no visible smoke left in the exhale. :feelsgoodman:

On the other hand, my old dealer was never hurting for money or bud, but wasn't very bright either. She would pack a massive bowl and hit it once or twice (blackened on the top and edges, a little white/gray ash in the middle) and there would always be some lightly roasted bud or even a few calyxes of green left when she dumped it in the ashtray (the previous chick would sometimes pick out the green/roasted bits and smoke them when we would all hang out). :shrug:

I've seen the whole spectrum since, and was wondering how completely you guys and gals burn your buds and why you do it the way you do it? :bobmarley:

Smoke it until it taps out.  I used to be like your dealer.  Now I just load smaller bowls.

Smoke it until it's ash, unless it's weed that is gross. Some weed just turns to gross black powder. :mad2:

I just don't buy much weed, so i ration myself to about a bowl or two a day. Either before my walk to school if I have a long day on campus, or I'll torch up after I get home from work.

I don't like to overcook it. I do however always make sure it has gotten blackened all the way through.

I used to pack tight and smoke til almost fully out...maybe some green at the bottom but that was outdoors and id blow the bowl out into the grass to cash it.

now im smokin indoors with no ashtray so i snap em all the time.

Since were on the topic of cashing bowls...how many of you all snap your bowls?

The bottom of my lighters are always covered in resin and soot cause I'm moving that ember around till I get every morsel from that bowl.

i smoke it until it starts to get too burnt and just before it really turns to ash.I usually let a friend finish it off hen it gets to that point. I'm pretty snobby when it comes to the tatse.Can't stand poorly cured bud and I cleanmy bowls with iso after every 1/2 8th smoked through it.

I know most people snap one hitters but what i meant was (and this is only when using a bong) when the bowls done you suck it through the bowl so the ash goes into the water instead of cashing out into an ashtray or something.

ive been doin it inside cuz im lazy but i hate how dirty it gets the bong. Ill take like 4 or 5 hits off a big bowl then just suck it all through...cant be done unless its all ash.

Damn, I usually clean my bowls (except the nicer ones) when I am grossed out or after somebody mentions it. I never cleaned any when I was younger and would resort to dry-hitting the pipe when I was broke.

My glass is always clean but my girlfriend would do that shit... one time her pipe was so clogged we couldnt even hit it...she was all nah its cool and i just wasnt getting a hit.  After like 10 iso washes and some tooth picks her black pipe was clear again and she took a hit and was like wow wtf have i been using.

Glad I'm getting some responses on this. :thumbup:

I personally try to burn completely through, but sometimes I pack my bowls a little larger than is practical, and can't spot the ember at the bottom. When that happens I tend to have a little left over when I dump it into the ashtray later.

I try to clean my glass about once every ounce or so that I burn through (if i have plenty of free time I'll clean more often). I have a few bigger bongs that I keep very clean, but most of my smoking is done in smaller pipes and bubblers.

As for snapping a bowl, I try to avoid it in my bongs...I throw clay every now and again and have several pieces of pottery laying around that I can use as an ash tray, and IMO its not worth the extra filth in my bongs. I have performed quite a few accidental snaps in my small pipes...which is completely disgusting to have a big cloud of ash coat your tongue :zomgwtf:

I don't smoke the ashes once it gets that low, but I hate when you pass thebowl to someone and they try hitting it and bitch that it's cashed/ash it'slike, did you not look at the fucking bowl? not that hard ot tell if theres still weed.

Usually when it gets down to that point I ask outloud if anyone wants to smoke the ash. It's always the kid that never has weed that calls dibs too hahah

Back when I was first smoking I would ghost my hit most of the time and Would try to get every hit out of the bowl. I wouldn't care if I got ash in my pipe.

Man I have come a long ways.

As long as the herb is properly broken up it burns on it's own to the point where you catch a mouth of ash on the last pull. It sucks when people stuff bowls with chunks of weed and just catches fire when you light it.

Im a huge weed waster... i usually pack a bowl.. smoke most of it, and leave the rest.  Pack a few one in a hour, repeat.


I very rarely smoke it to the ashes.

I don't pack big bowls anymore, especially with friends; sick of people blasting the whole greens of a big bowl not clearing the hit and then putting the cherry'd bowl back in the downstem so it all tastes like asshole.

I pack as big of a snap as I can take and always end up snapping it. Therefore you always get a greens hit, and a few snaps leaves me more content than big bowls.

ive done it all, depending on the amount of weed/money i had...but recently i just do snaps like tahp

a few one hitters and im primed, it saves you from nasty burnt bowls too :thumbup:
