I used to do the pen thing. With or without the soda bottle. I made a steamroller out of a corn cob, but it doesn't work very well at all. Anyone ever make a lung with a 2 liter bottle and a bread bag? That's kind of like a plasticy uncooled gravity bong. Probably lost several brain cells there. Damn plastic. Also knife hits off the stove is kinda crazy when you think about it. Not uncommon, but kinda crazy.

Id say we built the most ghetto bong in high school ever. We took a water bottle, made a small hole in it, stuck a bic pen tub in the hole, and sealed it. We made a hole in the side of the bottle lid, and melted the pen tube and lid together. We used the cigarette paper with the metal on it, with holes we made with a needle as a filter. Make the hole, and the fucker hit nice, and it was easy to hide near the school.

a buddy of mine made a really badass water bong with separate ice chambers, out of cut up two liters and a lightsaber. it hit smooth as hell so it got the job done.

I made a water pipe out of a capsella floaty when I was 16 I used a socket piece like pris' for the actual bowl.

A 12mm socket with a wrap of electrical tape for a seal fits perfect in to a big soda bottle for bucket bongs.

Tin foil pipes and can pipes are something I used too a few times, but its not crazy if you want to get Alzheimer's disease. I never heard aluminum caused that until someone told me about it about 4 years ago. But apples are still my favorite when I don't have a pipe handy.
