so i have seen some mention of chloroform and naptha being used as solvents for thc extraction. Has anyone used naptha as a solvent? How were the results? Does it evaporate really clean? any help would be great.

I've heard things about naptha not having a very clean evaporation. With so many other solvents readily available I would go with something tried and true like Rubbing alcohol, Acetone, or Ethyl Alcohol (everclear). All of these evaporate cleanly, and are a better choice than naptha.

well i read something about naptha being a "kane" like butane or hexane, so i thought they could be used similarly. Also If naptha is unclean why does it known so well for DMT extractions, leaving clean product?

A lot of people do extract with naptha, I just think there are better choices. Why are you so insistant on using naptha?

I wouldn't. I see no reason to try anything other than butane, hexane or just dry/water methods. All others leave you far far behind of the quality your trying to obtain.

I figured that Naptha's close relation to Butane or hexane would make it ideal for extracting thc. I was just trying to see if this theroy holds water..without actually doing for myself and wasting $$...and its sinking fast....

No. naptha is nothing like Butane, in that butane is polar and naptha non-polar. I don't think that naptha will dissolve THC as well. Use an alcohol.

they are both non polar alkanes..... dont go spouting "FACTS" without a little googling to back up your shit......
alcohol is polar..... water is polar
naptha and butane are ........nonpolar

naphtha is a generic term rather than a specific term as i've read. Says it's like pet ether. Which i hear you can make good hash from. Also non-polar. Possible Impurities in the solvents are where i think you find problems.
"Naptha is mostly hexanes with some aromatic hydrocarbons in it." a quote from a DMT extraction tek. Sounds worthy of a shot.

well lemme know how its goes i thinks the folks @ phoenixtears.ca use this "naptha"- and i been interested in trying a run myself (ill)-but dont wanna waste a lb of herb on an "ehhhh" process...

pehh a lb wont be necessary. Start small maybe 2 ounces of non desirable trim and if it can make that work your on to something.

I tried it once, worked well on buds but took a very long time to dry. However Xylene does not work; it makes black tarry chlorophyll hash.

WTF!
Just watched that video posted! I have never tried the naptha method, but with the comment this douche bag made at the end of repeated use curing most major types of cancer, i would not trust it!
I have tried other peoples stuff they made with various solvents and the 3 most used types are butane, iso, and hexane. All the other solvent leave a nasty chemical taste. I had a friend that was into trying new ways and he had used, naptha, acetone, lacquer thinner, and various alcohols. All of which left some undesirable taste minus the alcohols.
However, my understanding of alcohol is that ISO does not dissolve the thc into the solution but rather just acts like a stripping agent like butane. If you use grain alcohol or most other types of alcohol the THC will disolve into the alcohol and evaporate out with that alcohol.
