Quality herb is more environmental then genetics from what little research I have done.

Its actually an intricate dance between nature and nurture.

You can take dynamite genetics and get shitty bud if you don't have the proper grow conditions.

In the same vein, you can take shitty genetics and plop it down in a finely tuned hydroponics setup, give the plant everything it needs, and get a healthy plant with shitty buds.

However, most bag seed from bud that will will get you stoned will turn out ok as long as you treat it right. Giving the plant the right growing conditions allows it to reach the maximum potential that the genetics allow, but no further. At that point, you'll need to get better genetics in order to get better bud.
