Protip: never talk to cops. Dont listen to their threats. Repeatly ask to have your lawyer present. Once u ask for a lawyer they (usually) stop harassing u with threats

Yeah, I try to not sound condescending, and just give a flat "Am I free to go?" They have to answer either yes, or no you are under arrest.
Yes, I do realize some cops are assholes, especially in the city, but if they don't let you go, it's considered unlawful, and you have a good chance of getting the case thrown out.
