I grew up in east LA, my brothers first CD was NWA. I still remember the day we picked it up.

Ha I grew up next to Compton. Wasn't as bad as the media has portrayed it to be.

I moved up to Seattle and was living in the worst part of town, "white center" which is like the Compton of Seattle. I didn't realize that when I moved there and thought it seemed kinda nice, but then everyone I talked to about it would look at me and be like "omg you live in white center?" Like I was nuts.
The hood was probably at its worse in the 80's before the cops in LA started crackin down in the 90's. I had my house raided a few times without warrants, cops going through pockets without consent, all kinds of illegal shit. When I was there my town ranked number 1 in gang activity outside of the city of LA, but just a few months ago I see its ranked one of the safest cities in the U.S. A lot can happen in 20 years.
