Sick pooch :(
    #675539 - 06/22/13 02:29 AM (10 years, 9 months ago)

My dog has been acting weird the last few days. And is now clearly sick. Vet first thing in the morning. Any home remedies that could make him feel more comfortable till he's better?

I'm not knowledgable on veterinary practices but I can tell you that those here who are, are going to need a little more information to go on.

Vomiting and diarrhea not eating much. Just generally sick without having a real diagnosis done. Curious what foods might be beneficial or OTC meds would be good if its something that may need treatment.

Boiled rice and chicken.  But it depends on what exactly is going on.

Not that I can tell but I'm not strong with colors especially those ones. I had a puppy catch parvo and it smells nothing like that metallic dying poo smell its just diarrhea but more than I've seen from him before. And with the thick puke I worry he picked something up that the previous remnant may have left.
thanks hawk I read that too and will for sure be putting him on that diet for the time being. I'm sure he won't mind since I think the food may be doing it. Beneful playful life is what he's eating now and he has been super reluctant to eat it since I got it about a week ago.

I know the dog's health comes first, but don't be shy about getting your money back on the food.  Well cooked chicken and rice are good idea unless your vet tells you otherwise.  Chop the chicken up in to small pieces to make it easier to digest.

My cats and dogs were all eating Blue Buffalo brand foods.  They were having problems from shedding, to puking, to diarrhea.  It was getting great reviews, even from the vet.  We switched them all to a brand called Wellness and it has been like night and day.

You might want to consider putting some Pedialyte (electrolyte and calories for human babies - gentler than gatorade) in his water until the problems stop.  It could help him stay hydrated.

I am not a cannabis grower.  I find the cannabis growers to be the most open to experimenting and sharing out of all of the different botany groups I enjoy.  I frequently use the suggestions that I find to apply to own organic gardening and food production.

What dog food brand do you use?

I know there was a recall  from "Natura Pet Products" for a possible Salmonella  contamination a few days ago.

I cant offer much help..... but i do wish your dog a safe recovery/ feels better soon

nothing worse then not being able to help someone we love.  If he dont get better soon you should bring him into the vet.

I actually called the number on the bag last night when I realized it wasn't just a passing thing. And the rep said there has been no word of any quality issues. He's got a virus but the vet said for sure no worms or parvo. I got him chicken and rice boiling now and he's fresh from the bath. Also got him Purina chef Michaels chicken bag to replace the Beneful. Not sure if its the best but its food I know he really enjoys and does t upset his stomach.

No x-ray just blood work right there with test kits on known illnesses in the area which I now know there's tons of. He's got an appt next payday to get a new set of boosters. He's psyched on getting stove food too.

His demeanor is good. Still peeing out his butt but no vomit and he's drinking a lot more having eaten the chicken and rice. He's for sure on the road to recovery it seems!
