Global Warming

Discuss.  How real of a threat is it?  Is it possible it's being used to push agendas?  Is it being exaggerated? 

Please back up your claims.

Completely exaggerated, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to reduce the amount of ozone-busting chemicals emitted into the atmosphere.

there is clear evidence of global climate change in some areas.

however, i think that we over-exaggerate our impact on the environment, at least thermally.

i just read something this morning about salmon in the yukon river getting all these diseases and stuff because of warmer water temps, and the fishers have to feed em to the dogs.

things like this certainly are problems, but they are apart of a larger geologic and meteorologic cycle over which we have no control.

certain areas are seeing he effect much worse than ever. it may not effect everyone in this lifetime, but the CO2 emmisions are at a point where something does need to be done for an energy source that doesnt pollute as much. its nieve to think we are not impacting the earth and nature, so i think it is an important and crucial topic that needs to be addressed now.

edit: and to add- i do realize there are natural hot cycles on earth, but they were caused by complete natural process. The rise in temps. now can be completely natural, but evidence proves that c02 increases it as well. so ya theres that arguement.

i don't know the answer, but i do think we need to reduce emissions and stop polluting our earth. we are a fucking cancer to this earth.

wish we could go back in time and live like the Indians.

My opinion on this subject is,i dont care.You see,by the time global warming is ever a threat,ill be long dead! most humans live to be like 55? except for those that live healthy,so yea ill be long dead....given my current lifestyle i should be dead by january!

But it may be true,im not sure because we just had a major flood down here that has only ever occured during 1993,or the floods of 93'....but that one was much worse,this one just flooded every1's home in this states basement.and yes it seems the weather patterns are changing dramatically,we are getting snow in the spring-early sommer, and are getting warm days in the fall-winter....very strange Iowa behavior to be sure.

Well, I'm of the mind that the weather patterns are definitely changing, but as to whether or not this is due to human activity I just don't know for sure, and neither do the climate scientists, really.
