Tomatoes = Marijuana?

So this time of year I tend to hear an increase of radio commercials telling me where to get equipment to grow "tomatoes" in my closet.

or how to get more buds on my indoor "roses"

but why do these ads always use tomatoes?
Is there some connection between pot and tomatoes?

Those plants can be similar sized and use similar nutrients.  This is a generalization, but the fact that roses and tomatoes are two of the most commonly grown garden plants helps to distract from the fact these same products can grow cannabis.

I use the exact same hydroponic equipment and nutes that I used for cannabis 20 years ago to grow tomatoes, cucumbers, cantaloupe, green peppers, etc...  The only thing that changes are some of the light requirements, nute blends, and flood cycles.

To be quite honest, I think a lot of the store owners would really like to see hydroponics and organic gardening spread in to more of the mainstream.  There is a pretty large underdeveloped market.

I am not a cannabis grower.  I find the cannabis growers to be the most open to experimenting and sharing out of all of the different botany groups I enjoy.  I frequently use the suggestions that I find to apply to own organic gardening and food production.

Yes
If I remember correctly, they have the same growing parameters.
If you can grow one then you can grow the other.

My mother used to teach agriculture, and tought how to grow many different plants hydroponically.
She will be helping me with my marijuana grow :awehigh:

I called Lowes once back when I was very, very new to growing. I got some dude on the phone, and was asking about buying some kind of tomato nutrients. I'm not sure how I worded it, but I gave myself away.

He just laughed and said "yeah, come on in. We've got exactly what you want. Just come find me."

well it's not hard to figure out what these places are really selling
especially when they call themselves Stems & Seeds or something

I just found it odd that they all say tomatoes instead of just saying plants

yeah but look at the people on top of the tomatoe.
I think they'd have trouble fitting inside that barn....
I don't think you should eat anything grown with that stuff

as odd as it sounds, some people put serious cash into growing edibles and I know plenty of people with top notch indoor set-up growing prized orchids and carnivores

The loss of cash isn't really an issue for them since they view it as a hobby

Well...all gardening experience applies elsewhere. I mean, it won't be the same (obviously)...and personally, I think indoor tomatoes would be a huge pain in the ass (even my outdoor tomatoes always need daily attention) but I suppose it would help :cool:

get to know your plants a little, most of the experience you learn can be applied to mj, watering/nutrition/pruning/cloning

That reminds me of king of the hill.
Bobby is growing roses, and hank goes to a head shop to get growing supplies, and the guys working there think he's talking about growing pot, not roses lol. And they buy s bong cause they think its a vase Ahhhhhahahahahahahaja :facepalm3:
