.. for the past 4 months or so. it's not quite finished, but it's coming along nicely i think. all it really needs now are some finishing touches - like paint - and a few tweaks on ventilation. will possibly update with pictures of the inside once it's finished, it's a mess in there right now since we're still working on it. it's been quite the bonding experience with my dad though, which has been awesome.
it's 15'x8' and i'm quite proud of it. i've never built anything like this before, especially not on this scale, and it's definitely not perfect, but i think we did a pretty damn good job and i kind of just wanted to share.

So is this eventually going to be a grow shack or just a shed? Either way it looks like you did a very good job 
If you're planning on growing in it would you mind sharing your plans for temperature control and what not? I made a huge thread in here about shed growing awhile ago and we never really settled on good plans...

passive ventilation, yes. During the summer when it's 100 degrees outside you NEED some sort of air exchange or your lawn mower will explode. Seems like common sense to me

still trying to figure out temperature control. i have one inline fan sucking air in and plan to get another when i can afford it, and there is a 1500cfm attic fan blowing air out and once lights go in there they will be ducted outside. the thing is also insulated as well so hopefully that will help. i won't know how hot it's going to get in there until it starts warming up here, and we actually have something going on in there with lights and whatnot.
i'm thinking if heat during the day is an issue after everything we've done to control it, the lights may just come on in the late afternoon/early evening in hopes of helping with that a bit.

I think that sounds like a good plan, but then of course it's just always going to be the same temperature in there as it is outside. Are you one of those lucky people who lives somewhere that never gets above 80?

we get a few triple digit days and 90+ days in the middle of summer, and in the fall it gets pretty warm. but i think living 10mins from the beach helps keep it cooler here than it would say, in the valley (los angeles). i think our average temp in the summer is 80-83 or something like that.

of course not, but only because it wasn't required. we built it as big as possible but under the size that requires a permit.
Work Exempt from Permit. A building permit shall not be required for the following:
1. One-story detached accessory buildings used as tool and storage sheds, playhouses and similar uses, provided the projected floor area does not exceed 120 square feet.

Right on, I believe that's what is it here as well. I've wanted to build one with a fiberglass roof with southern exposure, that way I don't even need lights.

it's been a great bonding experience with the pops. some really awesome times that i will never forget. it's the biggest project we've ever attempted together, and all in all i think it turned out amazingly well - especially when you consider that neither of us knew what we were actually doing. i had to look up a lot of stuff online to make sure we were building it correctly so that it wouldn't just topple like a house of cards at the slightest breeze.

Really. A son and his father can build anything if they put there minds to it. I can see that, but differences between the father and son may cloud it. I am happy to see that you and your pops do not share the same relationship me and mine do. I guess him working for the government can play a part in that but still I envy you and your dad for building a grow shed together.

it's actually daughter and step-father, but he raised me from a small child so he's just plain dad or sometimes daddy if i want something.

she was amazing. the Delahaze and the Maui were the first run in the shed.
one day, hopefully soon, i hope to add another 1000w in the flower room as right now i only have one 1000w ballast and hood for in there. there is this vision in my head, and it is beautiful. i just wish i had the means to make it a reality.

I wish I had a house to make my dreams happen. Living in an apt until the lady in I get out of debt. I started growing week to help get out of debt.
My grow buddy moved into a new house with a shed in back that he grows in. The shed is 8 by 10 and has 16 outlets in it and 4 different circuits. The last res. had a kick ass work shop or did some growing themselves.
Some day I'll have the space...

i only have 2 outlets for a 16'x8' space, but each of them are on their own 2 x 30amp breaker so it's isolated from the house and i can pull plenty of power if need be.

Yeah thats definitely a option for me when I get a house. Its better then using the basement I guess. Those fences keep things pretty private? It would be hard where I am at for privacy.

yeah, they do. it helps that the neighbours in the back are raised up and that the neighbours on either side of me don't care.
