a question about flushing
    #337464 - 12/28/09 02:08 PM (14 years, 3 months ago)

so, say i need to flush a plant because of whatever reason. ive read up and everything says to flush with a mild and complete fertilizer and to flush the growing medium with at least 3 times the volume of water for the volume of the growing medium.

so, does that mean if i have a 1.7 gallon pot, i need to flush 3x that amount, which would be 5.1 gallons.

OR

does that mean if, say, i usually water my 1.7 gallon pot with a half gallon, i should use 1.5 gallons to flush?

Dirt or medium? Is it a final flush before harvest, or an emergency/salt build up flush? If it's the final harvest flush, use straight water. If it is an emergency flush for hydro, use a flushing solution, with a half diluted N nutrient. Flushing solutions add the right nutes to unlock the salts, 100% water doesn't work as well.

im using soil, fox farms ocean forest.

i have a sour diesel that just isnt getting any better. i dont know what the fuck is wrong with it. i flushed it when it was in the 1.7 g pot, then moved it to 4.75 g and its still just yellowing and leaves are dying and drying up.

im pissed off and dont know what to do, i think i posted something in the doctors diagnosis but it didnt help much. idk wtf the problem is, but my fertilizer doesnt seem to be doing it.

word. thank you for the answer

i might as well just ask real quick instead of making a post about it. i watered the sour D 3 days ago ago with half strength grow big and big bloom (fox farm)

would it be a good idea to just water it again with just plain water and epsom salt? im pretty sure i just figured out whats wrong with it. Mg deficiency... would be nice to fix that ASAP. will have to spray the plant with some once the light turns off.

How old are the plants? Cause if using Ocean Forest and a complete fert and the plants are under a month and a half the problem whatever it is isn't a deficiency.

I really think you're suffering from a Nute lockout here.  As mag said, FF soil and nute lines really give you all you need.  If you're using them and suffering from what looks like a deficiency, it's most likely because the nutes are locked out and are not being absorbed by the plant.  Feeding your plants more nutrients while they are like this will only exacerbate the problem.

Solve the lockout and you'll solve your nutrient problems.

Plain water works in an emergency(need to Ph balance it though), but if you have some spare cash go buy some clearex.

Do some reading on the clearex, it's not an instant fix.  You'll need to water your plants over the course of a week or so with the solution before it really starts to take effect.

Leaching with water works well, it's available to you now, so why not use it?  Flush your plants with about 5 gallons of water, buy the clearex tomorrow, and in a few days start applying it to repair the soil and clean up anything else that may have been left behind.

Give it a flush and WAIT on it. Let the soil dry all the way back out before you do anything else. Repairing an issue like this takes time..

I know the feeling, though. Sorry you have to see your lady go through this :frown:

i flushed all of my plants today with final flush. i wont be watering until they NEED it, and when i do water again, it will just be plain distilled water. so, i probably wont water for 5-7 days depending on pot size and plant.
