I've got a half an ounce of Purple Kush and a quarter ounce of Maui steeping in a fifth of vodka for about 2 months now waiting to be strained and bottled into cobalt dropper bottles. I've tasted it and its not bad, but it might be a problem on a day when I'm nauseous, when I could use the tincture the most.
So my question is this: should I attempt to boil off some of the alcohol? Will this greatly improve the taste? Won't some of the THC boil away with alcohol?
Also, what do you guys think of adding honey to increase potency and maybe improve taste? Will the honey dissolve and if not, will it clog the dropper?

What proof vodka did u use?? Anything that is not Everclear (or 180 proof) is a waste of time IMO.
And DO NOT boil it off, itll get rid of the THC. I have made Green Dragon 100s of times and i personally think that honey adds to the taste and helps the THC get absorbed more in the alcohol when heated over a low flame. Then let cool and enjoy, always had the most POTENT shit that way.

The vodka is 100 proof, I also have an Everclear one going but its only been about a month; Everclear is only 151 proof btw, not 180.
So you're sure the THC will boil off even if I keep it low enough to only boil the alcohol and not the water?

The alcohol would surely burn off which was the solvent to extract the THC. I don't think it would be a good idea, and would only make the concoction a thicker consistency. Would concentrate taste, not improve it.

The alcohol will evaporate off slowly, faster than water, but still horribly slow.
Your best bet is next time just start with a very small amount of alcohol and if you need more add a little.
If you aren't interested in the alcohol buzz and just using it to make a tincture, people seem to recommend glycerol, although I haven't personally tried it.

I so wish i could find the information i read years ago about the different types of alcohol and their actions with THC.
I remember reading in Hightimes or one of the other cannabis mags back in the day that drinking alcohol will absorb THC, Thc will bind with the alcohol and there for evaporate with this alcohol. Which is why you always read about iso when it comes to extractions and not drinking alcohol.
Something about Iso that still has the power of alcohol as a solvent but will not bind with the THC, therefore evaporation does not disintegrate THC content.
If anyone else can find or knows where to find this molecular information please let us all know. I know it is out there and has been written about. And i am getting flustered reading through all these pages to find it.
