?'s about Drip Systems
    #154735 - 12/03/08 02:24 AM (15 years, 4 months ago)

Im looking into installing a drip system.  My room is 2x4x4.  I have a 400w HPS.  Im currently doing soil w/ fox farm nutes.  I want to stay soil cause i want to try organics like bat guano.

One question is if i plan on using bat guano, can that be used in a drip system?

Also, how do i set up timing for watering?  Do i use a electrical timer for the water pump, or do i need a timer that monitors water flow?

Thanks.

Guano won't work in a drip system. The flow of water is done by the drip emitters. Timing would have to be done with the timer controlling the pump.

try other brands of organics. also, when i've rigged up irrigation in the past, since i only needed to water every 2 - 5 days, i would just plug in the pump whenever i needed the plants watered.

welll

if you made a res of nutrient solution why couldn`t why wouldnt this work... if you use tubing with no drip nozzles nothing would get clogged

ie. no 2gph shit the flow just wouldn`t be so good which wouldnt matter in a bed

so can guano tea be pumped?  And the reason it would matter is im not doing a bed.  I know its not the best, but i like individual pots with soil and i want to go to drip just for convince in watering.

How can i find out how big of a pump i'll need?

oil can be pumped.

I can't see guano tea clogging tubing without drip immiters.

He was kinda right, just didn't specify enough. Poo of all acceptable sorts can be used as organic ADDITIVES in hydroponic setups. First they must be liquidized by brewing a tea with them... if I'm not mistaken. I haven't ever touched hydro set-ups, but I've read plenty about them.

if you make a tea their will be no particles to clog your emitters or any other plumbing. you just have to stir your tea a few times a day or put a bubbler in it, i say both.
