I battled spidermites in my GR for two years before beating them, I tried various methods with limited success until I used http://www.yates.com.au/Products/PestControl/InsectsReadyToUse/Folimat.asp

The lil fuckers have just turned up on my clones but I know they'll be history after a good dose of this stuff, being in a spray can makes a lot of difference as it's much easier to get 100% coverage on the bottom leaf surfaces.

I use this (dutch product), same producer. Works perfect. A good spray can is an absolute necessity.

That's the bottom line when dealing with mites I think, miss one, miss them all. They're tenacious little bastards.

damn mites! Just be careful if you use a spray like bug fogger or something because it will get into your soil and stress your plants out causing leaves to twirl and come out all weird. Its probably okay since you are 6 weeks in but for your salvia plants and whatnot.

I don't know much about spider mites but they definitely aren't an indoor only pest - I don't think there are any indoor only pests.

I'm pretty sure you'd have to treat the plants in some manner.

i assume spider mites only become problematic indoors because of a lack of predators. it is also likely that by setting up the perfect conditions for plant growth, the perfect conditions for mite multiplication are also inadvertently achieved, allowing for reproduction w/o predation, lower disease rates, optimal temperatures, and of course lots of yummy food.

It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. Do you know of anyone avoiding spider mites by filtering the incoming air? Personally, I would have to assume that placing a furnace filter, one intended for blocking allergens, in one's setup, if one has an isolated source of incoming air, would block them out. Anyone know if this works?

Unfortunately my friend is in a country where most houses are heated with radiators and there aren't any furnace filters in the shops.

Praying Mantises are the best. I'm fortunate not to buy them, my outdoor clones all had mites, within 2 days in the ground there was a Manis a plant, they are still there growing with the plants!
