Problems arising mid-way veg
    #739088 - 07/06/14 02:15 AM (9 years, 8 months ago)

I am finding at 5 or 6 nodes that I am encountering yellowing of my first two sets of true leaves. The first sets have turned completely yellow, and the second sets are starting to show on the exteriors. Is this normal, and like the cotyledon's, supposed to be falling off after a while, from the bottom up? The rest of my newer leaves look green and healthy.

The reason I ask, is that I've started adding nutes once a week (just did the second feeding of 10-5-14). Since I've overkilled with nutes in the past, I've been using 1/4th teaspoon in 4L of water (the suggested amount is 1-2 teaspoon).

I don't know if it's that I'm using tap water with a ph7, or that I'm over or underfeeding. My grow room is pretty scorching as well (having a hard time keeping it cool), so could heat cause deficiencies, or is it just the water and soil?

Ps: I am using mycorrhizae pro mix.

Could be a nitrogen deficiency. It could also be a pH issue and nitrogen is being locked out because of it. It also could just be the completely normal process where the plant recognizes that those leaves are old and useless so now it is using the nutrients stored in those leaves to help newer growth. I wouldn't worry too much if your new growth looks good.

Pictures are worth 1000 words so a pic would really help us. Also this should be posted in doctor's diagnosis instead of here.

Those first sets of leaves tend to do that man.  Don't worry about it.

I knew it was the chemical fertilizer killing them. The plants are at the extreme shriveling up (what was my healthiest one, for example) to at the mild with light green, to yellow leaves on the bottom. I have had this problem before.. Could it be that the tap water (ph 7.0) has a lot of nutrients in it? I am only using 1/4 teaspoon per 4L of water  (as opposed to the recommended 1-2 teaspoon), but is that too much? It seems to me that chemical ferts actually kill plants. It would seem the next solution would be to use organic nutrients (despite the money lost on chemicals) and rainwater at ph 6.0.

"Chemical" nutrients definitely don't kill plants.  If that were true, then there wouldn't be so many successful growers that use them.  This is a matter of something you are overlooking.

You need to fill out the questionnaire in the Doctors Diagnosis forum.  To start, transplanting that will help.

if the pic on the right is the most recent then they aren't doing too bad probably. I'd totally have transplanted that a while ago personally.

Oh nvm I can tell the left is newer. Yea I don't know for sure but I'd say you should give the roots more room. That's bigger than a lot of my vegging plants when put into flower, though I haven't had very big plants my few grows

You need to move those to 2 or 3 gallon pots.
