Next step?

I've gotten now to the 4th set of true leaves, and I am wondering if I should start ferting now? I was suggested a 20-20-20 fert. Should I be starting at quarter strength of what the label says? Is this all I will need for my grow?
Aside from that, I plan on getting a 400hps, but is it okay to use my 55 watt T5 until flowering, and should that be okay for just a few plants?
Thanks once again.

Depends on a few factors. What kind of medium are they in? How big of a container are they in? If you are just using floros, they don't grow as fast, and wont need nutrients as soon as when under HID light. But this will also depend on the factors stated above.

I am using a jiffy cube that was inserted into a gallon container of coco coir and perlite, which will eventually go into a 3 gallon.
So they don't need nutes if they are under floros (you meant to say until they)? Why's that? And I can use an HPS instead of an HID just the same? (heard HPS is safer and cheaper)

Well you are going soilless, so they will need nutrients. Floros are a less intense source of lighting, so they wont need as much in the way of nutrients. Less intense lighting, will mean that the plant wont be growing as fast and need as much. So I would start out at an 1/8th of the recommended

Interesting. That seems like such a small amount, with those calculations I'll need about 0.7 ml for 4.5 L of water. How can a plant even absorb such trace amounts?

I have another issue now. The ends of the leaves are curling up and turning brown at the edges. I reused coco coir for the base, could there be a salt problem in the soil? Is this also a symptom of not enough nutes for their size?
