@op back in the day when I had no pipe I would use a pen cap and the metal part on a eraser on a pencil. I would bite down on one end of the metal to make a "Screen" but to also let air though.. Can't use it to many times in a row or the plastic will start to melt.
Metal ratchet sockets and a empty pen work well also.

Yep. Instead of burning metal and plastic or having your smoke go through plastic or metal, it could go through a nice juicy apple. Just use a screw driver or pen to make 2 holes, one on top for bowl and second for mouth piece which should be at an angle going down at the first hole meeting at the core. Theses pipes can last up to 3 days, or after 1 session if you can't handle munchies too well

You can also make a foil pipe by wrapping it around a marker or pencil, removing the pencil to create a foil tube, then folding 1 end upwards to create a bowl

Apple for sure. Me and a roommate smoked out of apples for a few weeks over the summer when we were without glass.

Nope, smoking out of aluminum is very bad for you long term. Even cooking in aluminum is being linked to Alzheimer's
