That's the problem. Stupid people who only listen to the media and think this story is all "just someone who pulled a gun and murdered someone"

No one wants to look at the evidence of the case, listen to the phone calls, or watch the actual court hearings. You'd have a very different opinion if you were accurately informed.

For serious. Picklez, we're cool, but your opinion is far from logical. Zimmerman fucked up way before he was being "assaulted". Zimmerman used the "stand your ground" AFTER he harrassed the kid. If Martin was actually holding, he would be well within his rights to shoot the stupid fuck.

Zimmerman was the aggressor in this case, even after he realized his fat ass had no chance scuffling a 17 year black kid.


Hypothetical: If Martin was actually grabbed out of a car that didn't belong to him by Zimmerman. The two fought, and the one who was losing pulled out a gun and shut the other, Martin. Is Zimmerman in the right for protecting his neighborhood and himself?


I say no because he chose to play Cops and robbers with an unknown man, and ended up KILLING a KID.

In your hypothetical obviously Zimmerman is in the wrong, but that's not the situation.

I guess in the end it doesnt matter. Obviously the loss of life is always hard, especially to those closeest, and the whole situation is unfortunate but I dont feel like Zimmerman was in the wrong

It does matter. A kid died and it seems like it's well within the law. The problem here is one of Justice. Is it Justice that Martin died because he stood his ground, and got shot by a civilian for it?

The reason it's such a big deal even still is because a lot of people don't feel Justice was served on BOTH sides. 


It would have been a totally different situation if a POLICE OFFICER would of pursued the "criminal" instead a civilian.

Exactly. I also feel that people shouldn't be legally carrying around a weapon for "self-defense". The powers that be understand that we built a society where it would be dumb not to carry a weapon and we maintain this dystopia by allowing people to carry around weapons like we're in the fucking late 20th century America.

Firstly,  you REALLY need to use proper terms if you're going to get into a debate about the legal system. Murder is NOT justified under the "stand your ground" law. The law allows someone who is under attack to respond with as much force as he or she feels is necessary to defend themselves. If that self defence results in a death, THAT is what is protected.

The big question here is "Did Trayvon Martin threaten George Zimmerman?" If he had, then Zimmerman is justified in his self defence. If. NOT, then it truly was a murder (which is defined as causing the unlawful death of another with malice aforethought).

Secondly, how can you say that the stand your ground law negatively affects people? It only gives protections to people who are defending themselves from attack. You still have to prove in a court of law that you were in fact in danger. Without a law like that, if you get attacked in the street, your ONLY legal recourse is to run away.

Stound ur ground law negatively affects us because Stand you ground law means that people like me might get murdered and the person who shot me doesn't even get arrested for it. A lot of people who murder people dont even get arrested much less go in front of a jury and that is the problem. It took a whole entire nation protesting for george zimmerman to even be arrested. They need to get rid of that stand ur ground law before more people are killed.

So you're saying that you go around attacking people? Well sounds to me you deserve to be shot. I think there's an apt line from a rap song that could go here: "Don't start no shit, won't be no shit!"

You are right, people get away with murder every day. But trying to say a law that allows people to defend themselves against physical attack causes murder is a ridiculous supposition.

The fact that murderers don't get arrested all the time is because there has to be enough evidence to incontrovertably convict them of the crime. If the police can't obtain enough evidence,  they can't arrest anyone. It has nothing to do with the "stand your ground" laws.

Because people who want guns for illegal uses are still going to get them and people have the basic rights to protect themselves and their property

I'm not arguing for or against the 2nd amendment. I just think it's disgusting and pathetic to say that to be "safe and secure", a nation needs to be "strapped" It's illogical to say the least.

My chances of getting shot would decrease dramatically if they were outlawed...

While this is true, it's not necessarily going to decrease violence.  We just wont have guns to do it with.  If someone wants to kill you, or hurt, they will.

You really think criminals give a fuck if guns are illegal or not? theirs are probably illegal anyways.

You cant say you arent against the 2nd amendment then say you dont think people should have the right to own firearms. That is what the 2nd is.
