 7/18/12- CLONE HARVEST PICS-GROW COMPLETE!!- Royal Queen Seeds- Special Kush #1

Hey Ya'll
I am doing my first CFL grow. I have a 125 watt hydro farm cfl bulb that I am using for early seedling stage and possibly early veg. Adding 3/23 watt cfl's for flowering.
Ordered seeds from attitude Special Kush #1 Fem.
I have the process as far as seedlings protruding thru the soil. (see pics below)
my little grow setup (for now- ordered grow tent)
humidity domes
Okay so there was an issue with this guy ^^ I am gonna name her Sloan.
I knocked Sloan over in the process of moving the box around a bit...the seedling with a pretty big root popped out. I just buried it a bit, while leaving the top protruding a little.
Did I severely mess something up on her?
So yea...I will also put this log in the Grow Journals sections...
But if anyone has any constructive criticism on my grow, please don't hesitate to respond.

Looks to me like it just hasn't completely broken free of its root membrane. I dunno the technical term for it.
It should be fine, I'd leave it alone. If its really struggling, you can gently open it yourself, but I've killed a plant doing that before.

Yea I don't think I messed it up because I didn't cause any physical damage to it.... but I just don't know how much of the root was originally exposed before I knocked it over.

What I mean is I doubt it had anything to do with you knocking it over.
Inside of the seed there is a papery stuff that sometimes sticks to the first set of leafs there ("cotyledons"). Sometimes it gets stuck and they won't open right away. It has to do with how it broke out of the seed I think.

no no no.....I literally knocked over the entire solo cup, dirt, seedling and all.....I had to reconstruct it, and that picture is my end result.

Just let it be. That's the best thing you can do for it now that it's back in the soil. It will take a bit of time to recover.

Haha, they seem so slow when you see 'em every day, don't they?
I check my outdoor once a week usually, and each time I'm blown away at how much it grows in a week. When its in your house its hard not to watch em all day!

7 days and 6 hours in soil and my babies are looking nice.
^^ She is getting super big by the day.
So all in all I think they are doing well...
One question to all of you...
Should I repot now? Or still wait?

i made that mistake once I had to transplant a big plant to a 5gal it sucked i would just put them in the pot you plan on growing them in the hole time Thats what im doin for now on

I'd put them straight into the 5 gallon containers. Just remember that you're not going to have to water again for quite awhile after that.

i always water them till they drip a little out the bottem little ones dont need that much i forgot to ask does your soil already have nut. in it . If it does i wouldnt ad any

it says feed up to three months i wouldnt feed them till them. Check this out if your getting soil from home depot try KELLOGG products All Natural Outdoor Potting soil . thats what Im going to use on my next grow I here good thing about it

I went ahead and re potted the biggest one. I had time restraints today so I didnt do the other two. I will get to that this weekend.
I am using the same Vigro Organic soil...Ill be checking Ph levels this weekend as well.

Also, I added 1/ 23w 5000k bulb and when I get some time I will be adding 2 more and cleaning up the space a bit. **GROW TENT HAS BEEN ORDERED** should be here by wednesday.

Okay, when your transplanting you want to mix in pH balanced water with your soil BEFORE you put in your plant. That way you can make sure you have an even distribution of water in there. And I don't put any set amount of water into it. I just keep adding until it's thoroughly saturated.

all 3 of my babies are in their new pots for the long haul.
Total of about 200w of cfl bulbs all together now.
Im hoping in about 7-9 days I will start the flowering process.

well what I meant is that since I just repotted I would switch to 18/6 and thats what I would consider that the veg state.
But yes. you are 100% correct.
in your opinion should I ever switch to 18/6 or just stay 24/0 until flowering?

One more thing...if you look closely at the two closest to the camera...they have a little yellow tint to the bottom leaves. I just kinda assumed it was because I didnt have enough dirt in the solo cups....but anything I should be worrying about?

It's not uncommon to have the first true leaves yellow up, but it usually happens a bit later in the game.
I wouldn't be too concerned about it unless it keeps progressing. Just make sure that your pH is where it should be let em do there thing.

I watered last night, first feeding of nutes as well. Started small, and will gradually build up the feedings.

My ladies are growing into f'in bushes. and I love it.
Some issues I've come across lately:
- Dropping humidity- will be getting a small humidifier soon.
- two signs of small leaf burns (not worried about this very much)
- a handful or so small gnats ive noticed around my grow. will be using Diatmaceous earth to remedy this.
I also topped all three and the new chutes are already growing nicely.
I also clipped 7 clones, 4 survived and are growing roots nicely.
Due to space issues I need to switch to flowering within the next 7 or so days.

Just a quick update:
Added a layer of diatomaceous earth to my 3 pots. the gnats were getting out of control, and none the less extremely annoying and worrisome.
sealed off all light leaks and when I get paid on thursday (4/12) at 9pm I will be turning the lights off for the first 12/12 day.
will post pics up this weekend.

In 1 hour the lights will turn off for the first time. Right before shutoff I will be switching out my lights for the new bulbs I bought.
1 Felix 125w 2700k
2 42w 2700k
4 23w 2700k
Total of about 300 actual wattage but something like 700-800 comparable wattage .
Total of about 14000 lumens for about a 5 s.f grow area.
That's all for now. Hope these things give me some dank buds.

Day 5 flowering update:
plants are doing well. had a slight issue at the beginning of the week with dry plants. However it was slightly intentional due to my fungus gnat issue earlier.
tested soil this morning and Ph was something around 6.3, by my eye (I only have a cheap ph tester)
the only thing I'm slightly worried about right now is the bright green/yellowish leaves coming in on 2 of the 3 plants.
hoping its nothing too serious.

Day 10 flower update:
my ladies are growing fast.
watered with first round of Tiger Bloom. 7.5ml/gal for the first feeding.
Havent tested Ph in a little while, will be doing that tonight. I am also about to move my clones into their final pot tonight. about 2 more weeks of veg for them and then its off to the flower closet.

buds are growing very very nicely. I was away for the last 3 days, had my best friend checking on them and came back to some impressive growth
I had my friend water while I was away with zero nutes. Next water I will be giving them their first full feeding of T.B

Don't think so...why do u ask? Max has been 10ml/gal tiger bloom. That's only been once...before that was a watering with zero nutes...and first watering in flowering was 7.5 ml/gal....
3 waterings-3 weeks of flowering.

Whoops ....didn't realize I made a typo that would lead u to believe I over ferted. 6.8 Ph not 6.2. A shade lighter than the neutral 7.0 green (on the cheap tester ).

yup...thats my plan this weekend. to purchase a loupe and give it a look for the first time. this strain says 9 weeks flowering. but it also said plant gets to be 8' tall. mine are a 1/4 of that LOL. so i'm hoping sometime within the next 2 weeks.

How tall your plants get all depends on how big they are when you flower them. You could get them 8 feet tall just in veg before flowering, and then have 16 foot tall plants.

Im not too too worried about it because I will be flushing when I get home being that I will be about 10 days out from harvest (hopefully).

thanks brotha. I have already exceeded my expectations with cfls. still have 4 clones in early flower. after that harvest ill pack up my setup for about 6 months. got some trips planned and work gigs lined up. hopefully i can harvest enough to last me 6 months lol.

As promised here are some updated pics:
I still havent gotten a loupe, gonna try and get that tonight. the 2 smaller ones look like they are almost there. bigger one looks like it needs at least 2-2 1/2 more weeks. this is the 91st day since seeds were put in soil. and 60th day in flower. on thursday it will be 9 weeks, and the strain calls for a 9 week flower. I will most likely give them all an extra 5-7 days after I think they are ready.
the buds are super heavy, and smell AMAZING. I really cant wait to taste my harvest.
also- here are the clones. 2 weeks into flower. looking nice. it will be nice to get them under the bigger lights once I harvest the mothers.

got a loupe yesterday. looked at the trichs for the first time. It is way harder then I anticipated to tell the difference between clear and cloudy (with 30x magnification). but from my eye it looks like most of them are cloudy, none yet amber. gonna start my flush today so im thinkin another 7 days

well...I have a 30x loupe, which is getting me a view, just not a really clear view. I'm gonna return it and get the 60x. Also, I've heard that it takes a while to turn from cloudy to amber trichs with CFLS.

I believe today is the 67th day of flowering. Strain calls for 9 weeks (63 days) so I should be harvesting soon, hopefully lol.

Checks trichs this morning- got a few that have turned amber- expecting more progress over the next couple days.
I cant wait to chop these girls up....its been a long time coming!

thanks dude, much much appreciated. Its good to get compliments on here, being that like only one person knows in a physical form.
CFL's man- its the way to go. even when my central AC unit broke for 2 weeks- the room still never broke 87 degrees. while it was nearly 90-95 outside.
I used botanicare pro grow for veg and fox farm tiger bloom for flower. in the 10 weeks of flowering I fed them every other watering- with the first and last ones being half feedings. stopped feeding at the end of week 8

ALRIGHT PEOPLE! Last night I came home and saw over 70% of the trichs were amber on the top colas. Thats enough for me to chop em down. I pushed it as far as I could go, I need to let the 4 clones have the rest of their flower cycle with more light, I can see the size of them suffering.
Me and my three best friends will be chopping my ladies down tonight.

wear latex gloves, because your fingers will get super sticky... you can pull the resin glands off the latex gloves and get hash
also, DO NOT THROW AWAY YOUR TRIM!!! keep it. you can make some dank hash oil or bubblehash if you want to buy bags.

Sup guys-
Sooooooo as painful as it was I chopped down the 3 mothers two days ago....mixed emotions lol.
Took me and 2 of my friends 3 hours for 3 plants...so no too bad. Got some nice buds out of it.

the hanging buds pic is the final harvest amount. By looks im hoping for 4oz's total.
the smell coming from the drying room is a weird, "green" smell, if you know what I mean. doesnt smell all too pleasing, I'm hoping that changes with time...

i was scared the first time i grew weed when i went to harvest the plants. i never thought about it until i had the giant clipper in my hands to chop the plants down. i thought to myself "well, i might fuck this up, but i have to do this... here we go. CHOP"
i was scared when i dried the bud, cause it smelled like grass clippings. then a week or 2 in mason jars and a small bud in a ziplock bag made my entire car smell like skunky dankness.
dont fuck up the curing!!! lol i know you wont, but i have to say it. i would HATE for you to go through all the work you did, to screw up the final product. wish i could shmoke summa that with ya, but kinda hard to share a bowl through the interwebz.

that helps to hear you say that. They always smelled soooo fruity when you squeezed the nug when they were still under the lights. then all of a sudden this weird grassy green smell came when I chopped them. Glad to hear it goes away.

the buds felt really dry, almost crumbly dry, and the stems still bent, and didnt quite snap.
at that point i put the bud in jars, then once, maybe twice a day took the lids off for 10 minutes, sometimes i dumped them out onto newspaper then put back in the jar. after a week of doing this, the smell and taste come back, and the longer you cure, the better it is.

Morning peeps-
Last night I cut up and jarred most of my harvest. Not before weighing it tho...
girl on the right gave me 50.2 g
girl in the middle gave me 30.5 g
girl on the left gave me 48.1 g
total harvest: 128.80 grams.
I am very pleased with my harvest, and I still have 4 clones going in the flowering closet. (I dont expect much more then 2oz's total from the 4 clones- I neglected them quite a bit over the last 4 weeks...)

Quick synopsis of the clones:
They are alive, and budding...but however when I moved them from the veg room to flower closet I didnt add much more than 70 watts for light. For an extra 4 plants in the closet.
Needless to say, the buds arent big like the mothers were, but they are dense, and I hope that now that they have all the light to themselves, and a couple nice nute feedings they will bulk up a bit.
Ill post some pics up in the next couple days...

Hi guys-
been a while since I posted an update.
my clones are doing really nice. This week I will be chopping them down and shutting down shop for till roughly november...
   
Smoke report from the mother harvest:
2 of the 3 plants have a nice, kushy, fruity smell. Definitely kicks you straight in the face and I am really please with it. 1 of the 3 (the smallest bud producer) has a weird smell and taste. still gets me really stoned, but just not a fan of the taste. maybe there was a salt build up or something.
forgot to take better dry bud shots but there is one for ya...

So I chopped down my clones and turned off the lights last night. Will take a 3-5 months hiatus and start it up again then. Thinking grandaddy purp, cheese and liberty haze (my buddy over seas said the liberty is NO joke).
here are a couple harvest pics of my clones.
the buds got HUGE over the last month. considerably bigger than the biggest colas from their mothers...so I am up in the air on how much they will weigh dry. guessing right around 2.5oz total.
