I need some advice as to how to let in air, but exclude light. I must not be searching right. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I want to pull air through a vent in a box and into a filter. I want to be able to turn on the lights in the room anytime I want and know that I'm not disturbing the light cycle in the box. I want the vent to let no light in and let air in.

Well you just put a couple of right angle bends in the tubing. Pretty simple. You must baffled.

I tried that by constructing something like a periscope without mirrors. While greatly reducing the light from a flashlight, 2, 90 degree turns didn't eliminate all light. Think I'll add another turn and try again.
