Does the light have to be at the top?

Hey guys
Im really running out of room in my tent and I have the light up at its highest point just to keep it from burning the leafs(which is what has been happening) but they are only in their 2nd week of flowering so im guessing that they will grow even taller. Maybe this is a crazy question but here goes, Can I place the light (600w hps) on the floor? whats the likely outcome from doing this?

you dont want to do that.
1 stress plants 2 likely to cause a fire as leaves fall into light 3 wont get the light they need to grow properly
if anything "train" you plants. just bend them down a bit

I have found myself in that same situation many times. LST is your savior. It can be a pain in the ass at times, but well worth it when all is said and done.

I did manage to get 2 of the tallest plants to bend over last week by about 12-16 inches but even the leaf stems off the main stalk have regained the height i saved last week, they are growing like crazy. The plants are about 5' (1.524 mtr) at the moment does anyone have a rough idea how much taller they might grow

What if you were to switch the light every time the plants switched direction? Could you make it grow in a N shaped pattern?
I mean, definitely not the best solution, but it seems like it would be cool
-------------------- Of course it's happening inside your head. Why should that mean it isn't real?
