First Time Growing
    #262659 - 08/10/09 01:03 PM (14 years, 7 months ago)

For a little background information:
I am growing 6 plants in individual containers using 3 42 watt CFLs with daily watering (tap).  Plants are on a 12-12 cycle. Good air circulation and humidity control.  Plants look healthy.

My problem:
It has been about a month and a half and I have yet to see any signs of sex.  I have been told that as long as I am not seeing any sacks, I'm in decent shape.  However, I have not seen any signs of budding either.

Suggestions, answers, and advice are greatly appreciated.

Hey there. Congrats on starting your first grow.
It's easy and common to make mistakes on the first time or two around, but the rewards and knowledge learned are well worth it!
More info is definately needed to give any real specific advice, but if you take a look at the growing faq you should find all kinds of great info!

I wish you luck, and post some pics if you get a chance!

i would advise to stop using tap water due to the amount of chlorine in it. You could purchase a pump to make your own distilled water or go grab a few gallons of distilled water.

if you do use tap water, then just let it set out overnight....

How long have they been on 12/12?  You flipped them before you let them show sex?  It's been my experience that plants show their sex when vegged under 24/0 between 4 and 6 weeks of growth.

Don't think water has anything to do it, if it was chlorine contamination you'd be seeing a bit more problems then no sex.  I'd also skip the daily watering if you're in soil, it's not needed and can lead to more problems then good.

here's some more questions

how tall are your plants?
Have you had any problems at all during your grow?
Is your cabinet light tight?
Is your plant a pure indica/sativa or is it a hybrid?
if it is a hybrid, is it heavier on indica/sativa or an even mix?
Soil/hydro grow?
What size are your containers?

Definitely need some more info like stated already.

I take it you gave them a veg.cycle before the 12/12 cycle? And how old are they, from seed or clones?

My plants are about 6 weeks old, and came from clones.  No serious problems in growth. Soil grown, unsure of indica/sativa, they are each in only 1 gallon containers, and they are only about 1.5 feet.

PS I have debating about larger containers since the plants root systems are getting quite large and the plants haven't been growing much taller, but are filling out nicely.

I will try to get pictures up soon.

You should give them some vegitive time. 6 weeks is too soon to be trying to force them to bud.

6 weeks on 12/12?

It definitely should have showed sex by now.

Strange.

Pictures would help. Also, watering everyday might be a bit overwhelming for the plant.

Even if you threw fresh cuttings in peat pellets then into 12/12, 6 weeks should be more than enough time to show sex.  Give the plants another good look over for either balls or white hairs. If there's nothing there at all... has there been accelerated growth the past few weeks?  Before bud start the take shape the plant will go through a period of stretch.

If there are no signs of flowering, period, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say, something is up for sure.

Are you sure the plants are getting 12 hours of complete darkness?  Even light from an incandescent bulb from across the room bleeding in from the fan exhaust hole can be enough to screw things over.

Large amount of nitrogen during the first few weeks of 12/12 has been known to delay flowering, although 6 weeks does seem excessive. What kind of fertilizer are you using and how often?

Just curious, did the clones all come from the same plant, or different plants?
