If you had to choose between sucking air out of your room, and venting it outside.... or pumping the air into the room

To me, it would depend what the climate is, and what time of the year it is. if its normally cold, why waste all that warm air? And if its normally hot out, you'd want to pump all that hot air out of the house...

That's an interesting idea.

and is it better to push air in from the top or bottom.
ditto with sucking air out. is it better to take from the floor area, middle or top?

I exhaust from the top. Where the hot air is. Bring in from the floor.Cooler air. Live in the sub tropics. So heat is a problem. In the summer its a bitch, have to run an a/c.

cool. thanks. I know Co2 is heavy, and I don't want to suck that out from the floor. I think this is what I am going to do.
Suck the air out with a inline squirrel cage fan, (exhaust to the outside) and then just open the door to the room and put a fan in the doorway to pump the cold air into the hot room.

Lights off I keep my room with a strong negative pressure, when they come on pressure is either neutral or just slightly negative because of the a/c. This helps to keep my smell at a minimal and allow my co2 to stay in the room. What size charcoal filter?

none decided yet. but I will be using a 4in hose. do you think that is large enough?
there's a $50 one that fits to it nicely

Whats the wattage? I no matter what, I tell people to get the largest 6in carbon filter possible for any light up to 400 watt. I use a 10 inch but thats just average for mine, overkill is better and your filter will last longer. If you have a 600 or thousand get the taller units and use 8 in filters and a reducer to accompany your vents. Always better safe then sorry.

Very easy choice; you ALWAYS suck air out of the grow room because if you have any leaks in your seal then the negative pressure inside the room doesn't let the smell out.

I like the idea, good answer...
But, you do recommend a larger fan and scrubber? This has 2600 watts going in the room right now.
As for the inline fan, i haven't picked one out yet

Got to remember that pumping it outside the smell can be detected. I read a story where a cop was driving down the street, with his window down, and he smelled what he thought was marijuana. When he went to investigate he found that the guy in the house was burning old marijuana plants in the fireplace. What the cop found was a 10 million dollar operation.
Goes to show you can never be to careful.
