PC & Server Planters - Papaya/Master Kush - DWC 50W HPS

PC Box: Approx. 1 sq ft PC Planter. 10" - 16" maximum plant height.
Setup: 50W HPS over two 3" mesh pots in a six qt reservoir
Genetics: Nirvana's Papaya (fem.)

Server Box: Approx. 1 sq ft (17"x8"), 26" high, 18" max plant height.
Setup: 1-4 23W CFLs over Solo cups of Hempy mix
Genetics: Nirvana's Master Kush (fem.)

Nutrients: Botanicare PBP & Liquid Karma


Day 0 - 1/11

Started soaking two Papaya and four Master Kush seeds in H2O.

1/15 - Day 3

So, I popped those into rapid rooters in mini-greenhouses the next day (1/12, Day 0') but should have pressed them in a little better. I'm having issues with a couple of the MKs being propelled up out of the depression in the rapid rooter by the tap root. I tried to get them back into the plug, may loose one or both. Looks like the Papaya are ok, though only one has popped up yet. All the MK have popped though they look like they may need help shedding the seed coat.

nothing special. just some bag seed i have been growing. has been nice quality last 3 grows. was a good quality when i bought the bag(better when i grew it) only this time i went to DWC in a 5 gal bucket. hoping in the near future i can get a nice clone of some bubble berry off my wife's family this next trip up to mass.

1/17 - Day 5
I've just transferred the MKs to Hempy cups (3p perlite : 1p vermiculite) and one papaya to the netpot in the DWC - Replaced the kit air-stone with a nicer one and the pump is now whisper quiet :thumbup:. Still hoping the other papaya will come through but I've started another seed just in case.

Right on, lbq. You'll see why everyone makes such a big fuss over their genes when you switch up to breeder genetics :awesomenod: Though I'll warn you since I'm SoGing those MK and they're a pretty quick indica I'll probably get to harvest first. :wink:

1/21 - Day 9

All but the one MK are starting their second set of true leaves. I thought better of waiting for a papaya seed to germinate and took the MK whose rooting plug is showing out of the perlite mix and transferred her to the DWC (right hand plant in the reservoir). I also gave everything a foliar feed with a few drops of LK.

It's something to play with just to see how well I can do, 'test out' phenotypes and so on.

I'm going to put some plants outdoors when the season comes 'round as a more practical grow :wink:

Edit: Speaking of impractical I put the MKs in the server box on a timer today so tonight will be their first night in the dark. They're on their third set of true leaves. The papaya in the DWC is also on its third set of true leaves but the MK in there is still catching up its root growth after the transfer so it's a day or three behind.

Looks like it's turning out well.  I remember first learning about PC grows, I never thought I'd see so many become hydro set ups.  I hope you stay safe with it and produce some nice plants.

It's where you grow plants inside of a computer case.  It's a popular technique used by many growers to add stealth, containment, and easy structure to their grow.  I don't know where it originated, but it's been done by a lot of people.

EDIT: I've only recently seen them being converted to hydro set ups.  I am afraid to one myself b/c the plants are usually very close to the lights.  I haven't seen many HID ones either.  I think it's really cool that this user is combining both of them.

I do have some pics coming but I've been offline at home for a few weeks here and am a little hesitant to be messing around with uploading those in public (and also neglected to bring my camera bag with me today). I've raised the reservoir up with some cardboard and a phone book to get better light penetration and started adding about a teaspoon of blackstrap per gallon of water.

These aren't really great pics of the box but here are a few from my previous log:


You can see where the airline snakes up to where the pump is mounted, couple of computer fans (exhaust over intake) and the last one I took to show the root growth but it also shows the air diffuser in the reservoir.
