2 x 400W HPS w Lumatek digital ballasts
6 x 15W LED panels (they will soon be moved into a more useful position
  
A friend works at a company that manufactures the LED panels for growing algae and cyanobacteria for biofuels and biohydrogen production. All 6 were free so we figured what the hell, why not try them?

well it's actually not mine, I built it in a friend's closet because he was dying to grow but didn't really know how 
I'll try to get over there in a week or two and snag some pics for ya'll.

Nah, just kiddin . Looks badass dude, I'm pretty interested in much of a positive affect, if any, the LED lights will have, considering you've got 2 400HPS up there already. I was thinkin I was in grow journals for a minute, I was excited

are you goign to leave those LED's on the walll during flowering? That'd be interesting to see if the buds on the lower limbs develop any more as a result of that placement.

Yep, I guess the CO2 really increased the growth rate on those. Also, I'm not sure if you can tell from the pictures but they've got pretty sparse nodes. So they look huge but they're pretty low on density so that might play a part in how tall they look after only 23 days.
Furrowed- Definitely leaving the LED panels in there. He was unsure about it but I encouraged him to leave them up for exactly that reason. I think some side lighting ought to have an interesting result for the development of lower branches.

My guess would be that the stretch is directly related to the distance from the HPS. Seems like they're a little to high for a 400W (even if there are 2 of them).
How low does everyone else run their HPS? I like to keep mine as close as possible. With my new reflector, I can let them grow right up to the glass because it stays so cool.

I attribute the stretchiness partly to the height of the reflectors and partly to the temps in the room (high 80s).
Also, like I said before this closet is in a friends house and this is his first grow. He tries to ask me questions on the phone but there's only so much I can do without directly seeing them so I think that explains the stretch a little bit too. He thinks taller = better so he never even mentioned it to me so I had no idea that he needed to lower the lights until I was there a couple days ago. Oh well, we're flowering now so I guess we'll see how that turns out.
