Forgive me i haven't read all the preceding dribble but does no one else feel that healthcare is a fundamental of a human right as is the right to control what we put in our body. If you are involved in a catastrophic injury in the US you will receive medical treatment. The paramedics don't check for your nationality or your legal status in the country. Instead the focus on saving a life. Otherwise it would be inhumane. Why is it any different for healthcare on a preventative basis? Surely that's in our best interest collectively. The problem here is the insurance companies. This healthcare 'reform' is no different than a slight shift in drug policy to send more troops over to Juarez to help combat the violence. We aren't attacking this thing at the source. But, in reality, no member of congress will ever stand up and demand the health insurance companies be dissolved and the government take it over in its entirety. Call it socialism if you want. It would be as much socialism as the mail system. Which operates as a private organization - it gets none of your tax dollars. It can be done people. wake the fuck up.

I agree with that, but the question is, and I have talked to people reading the bill now, can they do it without incurring extra charges/taxes on us?

Of course they can, but profit has to be taken out of the equation first.
That is the hard part, too much greed associated with it now for it to work properly
Health care (like criminal justice) should not be a for profit industry
these issues address the commonwealth of the nation
and should be socialized, not privatized

i'm not even claiming to be wise here, i'm claiming to understand the fundamental structure of our government as learned in k-12 education. As in we have a system of checks and balances, and the fact that the president really can't do shit w/o the cooperation of congress (except command the armed forces)
I have quoted multipe times the post of trips i was talking about, why don't you follow the content of the thread because it's in there, i feel no need to explain myself to you.
