So i'm getting laid off pretty soon. The contract for my job is up this friday. So I figured I get my car ready for winter and pay a few bills early.
I go put new tires on my car, got a decent deal, not going to complain any. Still took nearly my whole paycheck. As i'm driving home that day, I feel my brake pedal being rough, and I hear some light grinding. Gotta be kidding me, the brakes are almost metal on metal.
Week later, today. I spend nearly my whole paycheck to redo my front brakes. Figure i'd get everything for them, rotors, pads, pins, boots, ect... Do it once, do it right, dont have to worry about it right?
Well on the way to my buddy's house, my car starts running like shit and shaking it's ass off going up a hill. I was thinking "GREAT, NOW MY FUCKING TRANS IS GOING". Ends up being the coil pack and spark plug wires, so next week I get to dump my ENTIRE check into fixing that.
Before I leave my friends house I noticed my antifreeze is getting low. So my car is now drinking anti-freeze, very small amount but enough to need a new headgasket. If you dont know that is, it's about 12 hours of work and 300 bucks....
FUCK FUCK FUCK
And it's dry around my area, all I got is a 40oz of Steel Res and my hopes and dreams.
Any words of encouragement before I drink myself into a coma. I really need to move outta Michigan, go to Cali, wish I had the money

How the fuck would I get a job then? Can't afford a new car, mine has too many miles to sell or trade in.

I live in MI, there is virtually no public transport around here, and I live half hour away from most of my friends (had to get cheap living)

and i refuse to live anywhere but a city
in fact, i was discussing this with a buddy. i dont see myself living anywhere but atlanta, miami, dallas, austin, or cali. thats it.

Yea, it's pretty bad when walmart is laying people off....
My best friend just lost his job working for a contractor of Toyota, I guess they aren't doing so well either.
I just graduated from college with a IT degree (plus 4 years of training and exp before that) and I can't find a job anywhere. People that do have jobs around here try to hold on to them with their life. Others that make shit money work 2 or maybe even 3 part time jobs to get by.
You hear stories all the time about people that used to work for GM now crackheads or crack dealers. Most of this city (Flint) is alcoholics and people hopped up on shit. I'd move south towards Detroit but it's getting more and more expensive to live down there, I dont know how people do it.
I need a job, a new place to live and an engine in my car by the end of January. FUCKED UP SHIT
