It's tough to handle a nonTrippy parent with no experience with the Trip at all.
I grew up in Hollywood and there weren't too many of them, so they stuck out like sore thumbs.

I have two such parents. The key is approaching the topic from a medicinal perspective. My mother was totally against weed, until I developed crohn's and convinced her it was extremely helpful to me.
My dad was against all drugs, but has lived most of his life with depression. He seemed interested in the topic of psychedelics when I brought up a study that found a single dose of DMT can provide antidepressant effects for up to 3 months.
