 Does weed lose potency over time?

I don't smoke all that much, and I'm still on the stash I bought a year ago. I keep the buds in a tight glass canning jar (the kind with a glass top, a rubber seal, and a metal latch) along with silica packs that I change every few months.
Even then, it feels like the weed is less potent as time goes on. Am I high or is that really the case? Do you criminals know?

If you ever grow your own, you will notice the buds lose some of the volatile terpenes over time.
They say terpenes influence the high.

I'm not a criminal at least not anymore, Canada legalized all cannabis in 2018.
Cannabis does loose potency over time even when stored well. The biggest killer of potency is sunlight.
Cannabis seeds have an expiry date as well, on average cannabis can remain viable for about two to five years. Some astonishing cases have been reported of seeds lasting up to 10 years when stored optimally, although the germination times may vary wildly.
So the next time your seeds don't pop odds are the seeds were old stock. Hint buy seeds only from the breeder.

I have some 10 or 11 year old seeds I keep meaning to get around to preserving. I keep most of my seeds in the fridge, so I'll be curious to see the germination rates.

For sure the germination rate will drop with time.
But if we'll preserved (in a cold and dark place they surely can survive 5 to 7 year.
I'm curious of your germination rate with your 10 years old seeds

Please let us know what your germination rates are.
Just popped some 3 year old seeds that were stored at room temperature and only 10 out of 26 seeds were viable. But to be fair most of those seeds were ones I found after grinding my weed.

I believe that for long term storage of Ganja, Extracts and Seeds, the Freezer is recommended.
I want to smoke a quarter pound every day in blunts that's fresh.
