 Damping Off Healing Question

I've read (and heard) that when a seedling is hit by damping off, there's no saving it. I know you can sometimes revive a plant that's inflicted with damping off. I'm wondering if anyone has ever revived a seedling or if it's true that once a seedling is affected, if it's truly a goner.

A seedlings stem is very fragile and if you over water it's easy to cause the stem to rot where it meets the soil.

This happened to 2 of my recent seedlings and I wasn't sure why they died off. Now I do...thanks for the info!
