Indica during the day. Good for working on. Sativa at night. Helps me sleep.

Not for me, Sativa is much more stimulating and functional, whereas Indicas make me groggy and couch-locked. Neither really help me for sleep, though.

Watermelon, I very much prefer indica dominant hybrids. However, most of what you're smoking as a 'sativa' or 'indica' is likely a mix of both that is dominant on one end of the spectrum or the other anyway. I also really enjoy heavy/pure indicas. Just more of an indica guy in general. Sativas tend to make me anxious.

Do you have ADHD? I know caffeine has this sort of opposite-effect on people who do.

But seriously... If you mix Indica and Sativa you WILL DIE! The combination of the different alkaloids causes blood pressure to build up in the brain. YOU WILL have a massive brain hemorrhage within 48 hours of smoking a salad...
BE WARNED

You kids are so retarded. You do all realize strains like GDP, Blue Dream and so on are strains that are mixes of sativas and indicas right? Most of you smoke a mix of sativa and indica every day.

Are there any plants that are even 100% either direction?
I know like Dr. Grinspoon is a blatant sativa and black domina is a solid indica, but is any plant anywhere 100% anything?
Most of the times people just use these blanket terms to define when the plant was harvested and how the smoke is...indica and sativa have more to do with the appearance of the actual plant and the way it grows than the high you get from it.
Also yeah

Ras, around here there's one or two things advertised as 100% indicas. As for the actual legitimacy of that, I have no idea. G13 is the first strain that comes to mind, I will try to find the other one when I pick some up for the weekend.
There isn't a way to test for genetics like we test the active chemical content, is there?

It's about the cannabinoids I've been told...
Back when weed was weed, there was weed. There was three diff kinds of weed..
Each of the three kinds, had it own unique cannabinoid profile. Each one had a cannabinoid that the others two did not
So sativa had a special cannabinoid that indica and rhuderelis did not
Indica had a cannabinoid thag sativa and rhuderlis did not..
Now days we have strains with all three cannabinoids mainly...
Is this complete BS or what?
Sounds about right to me..

I don't think so. Probably not feasibly anyway. I would think that one would probably have to go find some wild-ass ditch weed in Afghanistan and compare it to one of our supposed 100% indicas...but even then, with worldwide seed distribution (not even by man, I mean natural seed distribution) I wonder how far sativa/indica divide really is.

strains are just widely varying phenotypes of the 3 different subspecies of the cannabis genus.
Strains are not subspecies', although I'm admittedly not sure where the dividing line is.
Think of them as wide leaf, thin leaf and autoflowering. Each came from different parts of the globe. We didn't start to get maui wowwie untile someone started selectively breeding mothers and fathers together to get the traits they wanted. It didn't make a new subspecies, only an isolated characteristic of the bigger group. The same way a German Sheppard is brother to a Chihuahua.

Your talking about strains, he's talking about types. Indica, Sativa, Ruderalis.....

Mag, can you think of any strains in the USA that are even remotely reliable as a 100% indica? And from what source that strain would come from?
I know I made a thread about heavy indica strains before, but now I'm curious if there's any particular source that, in your opinion, is providing a legit 100% indica

Mandala has a Hashberry that I'm pretty sure is pure indica.

I just checked it out, mandala seeds describes it as mostly indica on their website. Bummer.
Stone (or any of you guys who know more than me on this), do you know if G13 can be considered legit? Not necessarily how the strain came to be, that sound kind of folk-tale-ish to me but just if it's actually known to be pure indica? edit: I did my own googling and shit, I get that I can look this up and I did, I just don't if the information I'm finding is bullshit.
I don't think this thread was going anywhere so I don't feel particularly bad hijacking it.
