Is this nutrient burn?
    #765442 - 01/14/15 02:43 AM (9 years, 3 months ago)

So, my plants were looking a bit funny this morning.. The branches were drooping over and there were some brown crispy bits on the ends and middle of some leaves.

I think the branches drooping was due to the plants being root bound as I repotted them today and when I took them out the root ball was very dense but they're looking great again (apart from the brown crispy bits) in their new large pots.

The plants are outdoor sativas, 10 weeks old and I have been using Seasol Powerfeed for veggies as nutrients for them every second watering.  The N-P-K if powerfeed is 14-1.4-9

Any advice on what has caused this would be great

Some kind of bug is munching the tops of your leaves, so it would appear.

Yeah I was thinking the little white specs everywhere could be bug damage and the brown crispy bits could be nutrients burn. Either way, I've lowered the nutes, don't know what to do about the bugs though...

First thing you need to do is find out what kind of bugs you have:wellidunno:

Pretty sure they're thrips. Tiny little white/pale green winged bugs

That sure doesn't look like thrip damage.

Hmmmm well I've definitely seen thrip looking insects on the plants. Perhaps something else is doing the damage... I did pick a few tiny caterpillars off one of the plants but that was ages ago and I haven't seen one since

Your probably fighting more than a few different insects. That looks similar to thrip damage but not consistent with their pattern. It looks more white than a like slug trails.

They are pretty dang small, I've only seen them with wings when they're older and turn black and start to fly.

I'd have to see more of the leaves to determine nutrient burn. Usually it starts on the tips/ruffles and works its way down. Those don't look too bad other than those brown spots and a few tips. Those could just be response to physical trauma. I've noticed I get a few leaves like that from moving the plant around and setting it up in their tomato cages. Looking at the nutrients your running however, its very low in Phosphorus, and those deficiencies look similar. You might also consider a zinc deficiency.

Try feeding Silica to help thicken the leaf cell walls and make it harder for for bugs to bite in. I'd probably foliar spray it to in case it might deter any insects.
