Just bought a 600 watt system

-hps
-metal halide bulb. Which I'm using now.

6 plants, after 2 weeks growth. I had to wait for the MH bulb because it arrived broken, so i just received it today and i think i have everything set up.

-/ are my lights okay being that close?
-/ when should i start nutrients
-/ will i get cancer from being under neath this light when i check on my babies.
-/ any tips are "must do's" would be appreciated..

Will this closet be to small, for a 600 watt?

Looks like a solid setup I wouldn't worry about the light being too close typically but seedlings I've usually grown with t5 lights till they get some foliage and root growth under its belt. Just watch for burn. Looks like your ballast is dimable too I'd recommend starting it at 50% power in the beginning. Don't feed for a couple weeks maybe more depending on soil. Seedling have all they need to get established. And no you won't get cancer just don't look into the light and you'll be good. Plants starting in that much soil are easy to over water also just a heads up.
