topping and then cloning
    #614379 - 03/24/12 08:45 PM (12 years, 6 days ago)

so i'm planning on topping and cloning the top so i don't lose my cola and have more branches and bud sites. That and stealthy issues to but my main question is can u clone the top that being that u r trying to clone from the main stem. Is it possible or harder than regular cloning

Cloning is cloning man.  They say that the branches that are lower root a little easier, but I've cloned from tops, they do just fine.

I've never noticed a difference in rooting time from tops to bottoms.  If you find a healthy part of the plant with good nutrient reserves it'll root.

Oh yes I agree, that's just the text book shit.  Supposedly more rooting hormones the lower you go on a plant.  I've never noticed a difference though.

I wonder what the justification for that is. I was under the impression that auxins responsible for signaling root or vegetative growth were released from all the axial buds and meristems across the plant. I've never read a specific mention, but my assumption was that this would lead to a relatively homogeneous dispersion throughout the plant.....

another reason for cloning the top is that the tops are more potent than lower branches from what i have learned  from other people that is if they know what they r talking about something about more trichs in the tops for drought reasons to protect the plant

i'm talking about the cola top i was gonna top my outdoor and clone the top so i dont  lose my cola and i saw somewhere that the cola is the most potent part of the plant that it has more trichs  and something about in drought conditions the bud coat itself with lots of resin glands  to protect the plant from the drought basicly i was just talking about just one top not all the tops from the upper plant  sorry if i wasnt more clear about that that and im not no plant specialist i just read around  so so of the stuff i read may not be 100 percent

Yeah...Cloning the top doesn't mean the resulting clone with end up being more potent.  And since your cloning during veg, there's barely any active chemicals to begin with.

And this is a bit dickish, but use punctuation man.  It makes reading posts a lot more.
