ok. im flowering 15 plants in a typical 5x5x6.5 grow tent under a 1000w bulb. i know thats lame but thats whats up. i just found an old 175w mv lamp(internal ballast)in the shop. im giving serious consideration to firing it up in the tent. not the best spectrum for flowering but its another 8-10k lumens and plenty of people have grown with it so. yeah. whatta ya think people?

Well usually mercury vapor lamps are considered next to useless for growing pot (from what I've heard... I have no experience with them), but if you already have a 1KW HPS running then I don't see how it could hurt as supplemental lighting as long as it doesn't increase the temps too much.

im thinking...another 10k lumens couldnt be a bad thing in an already cramped tent. it might allow me to space everyone out a bit more and hopefully get a little more light penetration to the lower budsites ive read that mv's were used for MJ back in the day before metal halides took over. i owe it to this crop. lol. they've taken every mistake ive dished out and laughed in my face as they keep getting better. awesome

false alarm...the ballast is shot on the lamp i found. i tested it and it works/ignites, but it overheats or breaks its circuit after 10 minutes or so. oh well. it gave me a better idea, i think. will a regular 4 ft flouresent shop fixture power t5 tubes? ive got two of those and i could get the bulbs for $20 that would be another 220w in the correct spectrum. i have a gift card for HD so it would cost me less than $10. worth it?

threw these in today... at less than 20 dollars out of pocket, thats over 200+ watts of 2700k light for basically nothing. maybe it does nothing, idk, but it felt good to do something. these plants are doing so well im getting bored and impatient
