 Need some advice. No fearmongers....

So im still in my first grow after a 2 year hiatus....
This afternoon, I heard a helicopter. Im used to hearing helicopters for news and ish, but they just fly overhead and go. This one hovered. So after a few minutes it really catches my attention and I go outside to check it out....The Chopper is directly above my block, a couple of houses down, facing towards my home.
I get paranoid and go replace my hps with an overhead fluorescent(not rushing because if they can see my signature through the walls, I dont want to seem like i am guilty of anything if they didnt already know)
i go back out and they are still hovering, so i stand out there looking up, trying to determine the acronym on the bottom. It may have said $#PD, but im not sure, my mind could have been making it up. I stood out there a little longer to see if any trucks or cars were about to swoop on me, but they didnt.
20 or so minutes later, they flew away. My city barely has a helicopter anything. Its cold where I am.
I want to know if anyone has any experience with something like this.
Can thermal imaging equipment penetrate brick? The light is in the basement which is mostly below ground, only 1 window covered...
Do they need an image in order to secure a warrant for search?
How does the helicopter work?
someone help me out before I smoke.......and become EXTRA paraoid

how many lamps u got going?
ive heard of ppl getting raided from heat picked up from infrared cameras before. My city just invested in a police chopper , and my friends are trippin a bit now...
u can buy a layer of insulation to hide ur heat, ive seen grow stores around here sell em.

if its in the basement and no hot air is vented directly outside I doubt they would be able to see anything suspicious with an infared camera, if its cold where you live and your house is very hot because of the lamps
is any of your basement above ground, like any windows
if they saw lots of heat in the basement assuming they had a very high resolution camera it may have been a little suspicious, they wouldnt be able to see it nearly as clearly as if it was right under the roof on the top floor
you being outside watching them may have been a little suspicious also, but lots of people would be curious about a chopper right outside their house

i would chalk it up as nothing. i have air cooled lamps, so i don't really worry about the whole heat thing. my lamps are vented directly into my basement and it's still a bit chilly down there

Yep. It was probably nothing, but it still forced me to construct a worst case scenario plan of action.

For sure. I dont know why I would worry about the plants...their repercussions are much less than the tubs of Mycelium...Ha.

Like somebody already mentioned you can buy thermal insulation sheets that significantly dampen thermal heat signatures. The peace of mind is definatley worth it imo.

I would ask how long b4 harvest? how many friends knows what you have? they might have enough to start an investigation. when I feel heat I go to a cooler place, ya digg? always better safe than sorry!
