i watched Catch Me if you Can last night.  An awesome movie!  That guy that the movie is based on is a badass.  Wikipedia lists him as a "confidence trickster".  He fooled sooo many people.  not just any people though, influential people with a lot of responsibility.  pretty interesting story to say the least.

I caught this movie expecting some campy b-reel horror flick but I was actually caught off guard by how much I like it.  There I was at 2 in the morning, glued to the screen watching a movie about trolls.

This film is from Norway and is a shot on video, found footage style.  A documentary film crew is following a man who they think is a bear poacher.  Well it turns out that he is in fact a troll hunter.  He agrees to let them follow him and film his hunting of trolls if they follow a few rules.

This is one is very reminiscent of some of the giant monster movies that I cut my teeth on.  This film is very tongue-in-cheek but also takes itself very seriously at the same time.  In my experience, subtitled foreign films usually have a hard time translating comedy due to the language barrier but I did get quite a few great laughs during my viewing.

The only minor thing I will mention is the CGI used in the film, it's an independent film and has an independent film budget but it does what it can. I'm the type of person who can't watch anything on SyFy do to the poor CGI so Trollhunter holds up reasonably well.

Well right now I am watching a kind of documentary named Mama Coca: La feuille sacrée (the sacred leaf), it is a video I have to watch for a class to be honest, it is about an old Atikamekw (one of the 13 native nations from Québec) who goes to Peru to learn more about the coca. In the movie, he talks a lot about how, here, it destroys his community, trying to understand how the natives use it with medicinal purposes, and how much it benefits their community.

Edit: The movie was really great, explains really well the situation of the natives Peruvians, who eat the coca leaves as a medicine, they use it in rituals, in hospitals, in food, it is not considered a drug for them, the drug is the cocaine, the transformed coca. The movie explained well also how bad the situation is down there, some of them are being sent to jail when they do not harvest the coca for cocaine (it is legal for them to use the coca, but I am not sure about cocaine). The point of view of the Atikamekw, trying to understand the use of the coca, while here, it is completely ravaging his community, is really interesting in a sense that he had a really really bad opinion about it in the beginning, and slowly started to understand how valuable it is to them, comparable to the tobacco in their rituals.

I recently watched "The Truman Show"  It is alot fucking cooler than it sounds.  If like government experimentation is your cup of tea this movie is for you!  It's basically about a corporation who addopts this baby and makes his entire life a TV show. and everything he do and everyone he knows and his entire world is a TV Set. And he doesn't even know it.  But then towards the end he sort of starts figuring some things out.  Its a really cool movie, 5/5 forsure! :thumbup:

Watched the new Muppet Movie. It was the SHIT!
You gotta be ready for the musical numbers, but they do it in a tongue in cheek manner and I fucking loved it.
Keep in mind that A Muppet Christmas Carol is my favorite Christmas movie though.

Checking out "Moon" (2009) as per suggestion of one of my best friends. I haven't really heard of it, but this particular friend has the same tastes in 99% of things as I do, so when he said "Get real baked and watch Moon", I decided to give it a shot.

Watching another movie for a class, I think it is on Innu shamans, though I am not sure of it, I didn't read the descriptions because there's a group of little bitches who keep screaming in the hall... I think i'll go slap them....:mad2:

It was really interesting, the name of the documentary is Le Voyage de Charlie (Charlie's Journey)

He goes in Peru, visits one of the most powerful shaman of the region (which has the most shamans in all the world), he learns about Ayahuasca (Which he use 2 times, maybe more, but we only see the beginning of them), medicinal plants, thangs like that.It is fascinating how the shaman was able to make Charlie connect with his ancestors trough Ayahuasca, he taught him the basics of shamanism, and the ayahuasca did the rest, started the mechanism. The Inuit community has lost their shamanistic beliefs, for christianism. I found it nice how two cultures, completely different, can connect themselves together that way.

Edit: A doccumentary on Coca, and then one on Ayahuasca ... Fuck I love this class :awehigh:

Saw Apocalypse Now a few days ago. Fuckin badass.

Prolly gonna watch The Crazies tonight or whatever other horror film from the 80's I can find on youtube.
