I'm just looking for some opinions here.
For those of you suffering from depression or bi-polar disorder, what do you feel
is the most effective psych med available?
What has worked well for you? Did you experience any side effects?
For me, the most effective medications have probably been a combination of
Wellbutrin and paxil, or Lamictal, the latter taken by itself.

I'd consider it if marijuana didn't cause me extreme anxiety and dysphoria with
daily and prolonged use. And maybe if I could reliably and consistently find
Indica. Not to mention the price and the resulting munchies....

you dont worry about the fact that those drugs just hide the root of the problem, but dont deal with it?

Yeah, of course I've had that thought.
I am actively working on the things that bother me and hinder my progress
in this life...
I also see a psychologist and she helps me to change my mode of thinking
and to view things in a more positive light.
But, I don't feel that it is enough.
I've been off of medication and illicit drugs for a few months now, I've been
eating healthily and working out, but tbh I still feel like shit on a pretty
regular basis.
I should be starting a job soon and I feel a good psych med would help to
dull some of these feelings. I'd rather make sure I'm as "stable" as possible
before starting to work again.
I realize that they are not a fix (Believe me, I have a lot of experience with these meds),
but if they can help to calm me down or dull my emotions / thoughts,
I'm all for it.
I'm just looking for others' opinions as far as what has worked the best for them.

You should try eating it instead of smoking it 
It does WONDERS for my bi-polar disorder
eaten cannabis is very similar to a low dose of Seroquil IMO
Burning cannabis causes most of the anxiety and munchies IME

You know, that's a really good idea.
The peak of the high wouldn't be so strong as to cause anxiety, but
I'm afraid that it would still cause me the munchies...
And it's way too expensive. I really don't want to go back to using
drugs on a daily basis.
Weed really isn't good for me... besides the points I've already highlighted,
it also makes me way lazier than I am, and I'm pretty naturally lazy.
Niteowl, I'm sure you've been on various meds, which have been the best
in your opinion?

I assume he was probably diagnosed a while ago and has some experience with meds.

If you've only smoked cannabis....don't dismiss its ability to help with your issues.
And I've already stated what medication works best
EVERY prescription pill is nothing but trouble.
Stick with natural remedies or GTFO

And yea I've tried my share of RX pills, thats why I say GTFO with them, just read the link in my sig to get an idea of wtf I've dealt with

Methadone is dispensed in orange juice or tang. At the clinics. Patients get a weekend take home dose in sealed bottles. Patients that "chip" will often sell their take home and buy heroin. Taking methadone only 5 days a week inhibits the blocking action of the drug. They are urine tested, but at some clinics its just a formality, they dont even look to see if someones dirty, nor do they care. Most methadone clinic patients have been refered there by the court as part of sentencing, very few junkies go to methadone maintenence on their own.

methadone doesn't have a receptor agonist, its just a pharmacutical opiate, you can shoot dope right after taking it and still feel the H, you're thinking of suboxone, which you can still get high off of but is a better choice for getting off the horse, but you're right most methadone maintanence programs fail but because they are still getting high off their "medication"... and theres a clinic near by that doesn't give a shit and will put people on outrageous doses, causing a few OD's, and I'm sure there's more like them
