I notice a stimulant effect initially then it turns a little more sedating. Lower doses are said to generally be more stimulating. It also really depends on the strain

What I find interesting about the active alkaloids in kratom, though, is that they are more structurally related to psychedelic tryptamines than they are to classic opiate alkaloids. But they do no produce psychedelic effects, rather, they're mostly mu-opioid receptor agonists.


At lower doses, Mitragynine exhibits a yohimbine-like binding to alpha-adrenergic receptors, as well as some binding to the delta opioid receptors. As doses increase, binding to delta receptors increases, and in yet higher doses, crossover to mu receptors occurs....So the character of the effects are very dose dependent, not to mention each strain of kratom has a different make up/ratio of alkaloids.

No you won't, as far as I know. Even though the alkaloids have action on opioid receptors, they (as well as their metabolites) are not related to the "classic" opiates so I am damn near positive they will not show up on a drug test.


But I have heard drug tests to detect kratom are in development, which is fucked because the plant isn't even illegal...yet.
