Building a computational device

I got it in my head that Im gunna build one of these suckers and have a wicked fast computer for a decent amount of money. However I know fuck all about this. So any information, instructionals, websites to buy from, etc to get the ball rolling would be greatly appreciated. I know some of you are good with this shit.

Im finding a lot of vidoes on the subject that look good, problem is I dont have the bandwidth to watch videos. Might go to the library or something. I guess what I was hoping to accomplish most of all with this thread is finding good places to buy from that fellow members have had good experiences with.

If you don't have bandwidth to watch videos, why are you bothering to build a supercomputer?

No hate, just wondering...because even the simplest tasks require a peppy internet connection these days...

Well, I used to have a really sweet guide on how to build a sick computer for like $500, but it was made years ago and I doubt its any good anymore :C

It's easy, I just built one too. Just do some googling and then it's no harder than really expensive legos.

It was around 96 or 97 my family got our first computer, it was like 64mb ram and 500 mb hard drive, and cost FIVE GRAND! :lol:

Shit, I had a PC for as long as I can remember...and I know for sure nobody would have ever paid even an 8th of that for me to have one.

Yeah actually believe it or not he's pretty much spot on. My first computer was in '92 and was basically those specs (might have had a full 1GB for the HD) and was about $4600
