I accidentally spilled a nice vial of chamomile extract all over the floor the other day. 
I set the top on it after I mixed some in my drink and later when I went to put it away I grabbed the top thinking it was connected and the bottom dropped out from under...

I tried to shoot H for the first time today and ended up sticking myself all over my body. Missing veins, not drawing blood. Shit sucked. So i ended up plugging the whole sack.

DPH gives me some gnarly dreams...But I also have always had weird vivid/lucid/bizarre dreams, I still remember having full control of my dreams when I was like 5 years old. Smoking cannabis daily doesn't even affect my dreams or dream recall. I still have vivid, & sometimes fully lucid, dreams about 3 or 4 times a week.
I have noticed many different herbs and chemicals have a major influence on my dreams, I'm really sensitive to plants & chemicals and my dreams respond to them easily. Valerian and melatonin always induce some vivid dreams when taken individually or together. So does a little bit of smoked datura and/or mugwort before bed.....
But yeah, I often do some "sleepy time combinations" like you described in the OP. I try to leave melatonin out of the equation as much as possible as it can really fuck with your circadian rhythm. I use it strictly for resetting my sleep pattern/habits rather than using it for inducing sleep, in that case valerian extract, DPH, some chamomile tea and cannabis is my ultimate sleepy time combo...and maybe a beer, hoppy beers always make me sleepy.
