What is scary about that? It's flying vertically out of the atmosphere, they were completely safe the entire time.

The Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs were both dropped from airplanes and weren't visible until after detonation. That's a non-point.

I live near cape canaveral and you can see the shuttle go off quite well. Pretty cool sight.
